This course introduces students to core concepts in the media field including color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates. During the semester, students will complete pages of their own ePortfolio web site, a print design project and one video project. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the media field as well as discussing current practices and future trends.

An introductory course designed to explore the basic tools, techniques and principles of drawing. The course also covers projection systems, plans, elevations, sections, oblique, isometric, one point perspective and two point perspective views. Students learn to further render forms and texture through analysis of light and shadow and by utilizing the 5-value system.

The purpose of this course is to begin to introduce you to the power of “conceptual thinking”. Developing advertising concepts through critical thinking (strategy statements), thumbnails second (the discovery process) and working toward finished digital comps will be the emphasis of this class. We will begin with simple problem solving and, depending on class progress, work toward more sophisticated branding projects. Through multiple client assignments, you will begin the know and understand that your first solution is not necessarily your best solution. Throughout the semester, every attempt will be made to show you award winning exemplary advertising.
