Internship in Communication Design (Hybrid) Writing Intensive 2 cl hrs, 120 field hrs/semester (BFA degree) Assignment to fieldwork/study situations of approximately 12+ hours per week at an internship site approved by the department Internship Coordinator: an advertising agency, graphic design firm, corporate design office, publications art department, photography or illustration studio, TV or media production company. Each student keeps a blog/journal to be shared in group seminars. Supervision is by faculty and by the supervisor at the internship site. The class is a hybrid class. A required course for all Communication Design students. Topics include creative user interface design and best workflow practices. Students design a website using an HTML template and develop design, typography and web programming skills. HTML and CSS are taught.

With emphasis on sensitivity to type, exercises integrate type within a variety of different mediums including page layouts as well as kinetic design. Prerequisite: COMD 1257

Using type and graphics, students will participate in the process of communicating concepts by experimenting with image-making techniques. Acquire the professional knowledge, language, and processes needed—from initial thumbnail to final presentation—in multiple disciplines such as graphic design, web design, advertising, motion, illustration, broadcast design production, and others.
