My Courses

MAT 1575 Calculus II Fall 2014

MAT 1575 Calculus II Fall 2014

A continuation of MAT 1475. Topics include Taylor polynomials, Mean Value Theorem, Taylor and Maclaurin series, tests of convergence, techniques of integration, improper integrals, areas, volumes and arc lengths.

Math 1372 – Statistics with Probability – Fall 2014

Math 1372 – Statistics with Probability – Fall 2014

An introductory course in statistics and probability. Topics covered include descriptive statistics, sample spaces and probabilities, discrete probability distributions (Binomial, Hypergeometric), expectation and variance, continuous probability distributions (Normal, Student, Chi-Square), confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, and correlation and linear regression. Spreadsheets are used throughout the semester.

Statistics with Probability

Statistics with Probability

A 3 credit but 4 hour introductory course. Topics include sample space, expectation and variance, binomial, Poisson, normal, student and chi-square distributions, confidence interval, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression. Students do 3 projects, 1 individual and 2 in groups and choose one of the group projects to present at the end of the semester. The extra classroom hour is designed to facilitate a hands-on feel to the course including a heavy use of MS Excel.

Transmission Systems

Transmission Systems

Introduction to the analysis of microwave communications and systems. Transmission line theory, the Smith chart and mathematical analysis are incorporated. Various transmission media such as twowire, twisted telephone wires, coaxial cable, waveguides, fiber and satellite are studied. Study of microwave components, Tee connectors, attenuators, slotted lines and cavities are included. Antenna design and radio-wave propagation are also covered (introduced). Concludes with a study of microwave applications and systems. Prerequisite: EET 2140; Pre- or corequisite: MAT 1475

MAT 1475 Calculus I Fall 2014

MAT 1475 Calculus I Fall 2014

Topics include functions, limits, differentiation, tangent lines, L’Hôpital’s Rule, Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and Applications.

My Projects

Statistics and Probability Simulations

Statistics and Probability Simulations

Statistics and probability are subjects that a diverse population of students take. Many find the subjects too abstract. Through computer simulation and exploration, the subjects become more concrete and accessible. With persistence, many students will develop a taste for research who with guidance and collaboration from instructional staff may develop results leading to academic papers.
