Bio

Hi, my name is Jessica Pareja I’m a sophomore at New York City College of Technology. I’m currently studying Communication Design. I enjoy photography, I believe once a camera captures an image, it can describe a million words. I love watching anime, and I enjoy playing video games even though I lose. As a person majoring in communication design there is one thing I would want to say, its simply that design is everywhere. I would like people to understand what design is and how beautiful it can be. As a designer I hope one day I can achieve this. However, currently I want to continue to grow independently and create beautiful designs.

“A creator needs only one enthusiast to justify him.” — Man Ray This course surveys the history of photography from its beginnings in the early nineteenth century to the present. We will examine the use of photography for aesthetic, documentary, and “scientific” purposes, stylistic shifts in photography related to aesthetic concerns, and varying interpretations of subject matter based on social and cultural concerns at specific moments in history. We will also consider the relationship between photography and the visual arts in general, which culminates with the primacy of photography as a medium by the late twentieth century.
