Bio

Hello! I’m a student at City College of Technology studying Communication Design as an Illustrator. I graduated from High School of Fashion Industries and studied art as well as photography. I’m more into painting than digital art and I’ve gotten a few questions here and there about why I chose City College of Technology since it is digital based. Well, I want to be more flexible with my skills and not just stick to painting. I feel like painting is something I am confident in and can self-teach myself and improve on my own whereas digitaly, I can’t do on my own since I lack knowledge of it. Also, what I’ve noticed so far in my first semester at City Tech is that in Communication Design, it really touches the bussiness aspect of art which is something I also lack knowledge of and wish to improve. I also learned the importance of teamwork, craftmanship, networking and putting yourself out there.

One of my life goals is to have my own art exhibition. I want people to look at my work and be inspired. In high school, for our senior project we had to create 3 Art pieces using which ever media we desired for our Art show (I’ve posted my three art pieces on my main page.) For us this was a big deal because this was our opportunity to show people from other schools, family and friends our skills and what we can do. During the art show, many people wanted to talk to me about my art work and told me how beautiful they thought it was. One person actually wanted to buy one of them. That is the type of impact I want people to have when they look at my work. It made me realize 100% that being an artist is what I want to do.

COMD Communication Design Internship Coordination Site

COMD Communication Design Internship Coordination Site

This site is designed to help you find fieldwork/study situations of approximately eight hours per week at an internship site approved by the Department Internship instructor such as an advertising agency, graphic design firm, corporate design office, publications art department, photography or illustration studio, TV or multimedia production company. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Openlab. A portion of the class will be devoted to presenting and sharing experiences with classmates. Students will learn how to assess their talents, update their resume, and promote themselves and their work through social networks. Students will be required to setup and maintain at least two social media networks such as: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. The instructors for this class are there as mentors if you have not yet found an internship before registering for the course. However, the instructors do not find an internship placement for you. It is your responsibility to find a position that fits your personal career path and help you transition to full time employment upon leaving the halls of CityTech. Ideally, you will use this site to find an internship the semester before taking the COMD 4900 class.

This OpenLab site contains course materials as well as links to news sites and a discussion board to exchange ideas. Please keep disagreements friendly, and please keep in mind that our main purpose is more to analyze than to react and fume. When the course is over, as long as you still have an OpenLab account at City Tech, you are invited to continue posting on this discussion board. To access course materials, click “Visit Course Site” at the right of this page.
