MTEC 1102 Design Foundations II, SP2025
A continuation from MTEC 1101 Design Foundations. This course is a hands-on approach to the basics and fundamentals of the “Design Process”. Students will acquire an understanding of what design is and how to go about it, while working with images, video, sound and interactivity to fulfill design briefs and complete intentional works and experiences. The structure of the class involves lectures, discussions and supervised lab-time where the ideas and software demonstrations covered in class are put into practice.
MTEC2101 Intro to Game Design Concepts, FA2024
A games literacy course that focuses on the innovation and evolution of game genres and concepts. The course explores this topic through the lens of a few select historical and contemporary games, contextualizing their emergence as well their technical, creative or cultural significance. This course looks at how game design concepts and genres were shaped in the interest of providing students with a reference of what has come before, and the insights that could be drawn from them.

MTEC2210 Game Design and Interactive Media, FA2023
This course offers a cross-disciplinary foundation for the design of games and interactive multi-media technology for artists, designers and technologists. Students will learn human-centered design principles and apply these methodologies to collaborative team-based projects across web, mobile and games. Using case studies, brainstorming processes, and rapid analog and digital prototyping, students learn design thinking and problem-solving techniques to enhance usability, incorporate sensory experience, influence perception, increase appeal, and make more effective interactive design decisions.

“This committee shall be responsible for making recommendations to the college administration regarding instructional, academic, and administrative technology throughout the college. It is also responsible for evaluation of current technological infrastructure of the college. Other college-wide committees with a primary focus on technology will maintain an active relationship with and provide resource personnel to the technology committee. To further this goal, the technology committee shall be represented on all college-wide committees dealing with instructional, academic, and administrative technology. Each academic year it shall produce an evaluative report on at least one important area of its purview.” -Article V, D.14 of the NYCCT College Governance Plan

The Wizz Wonders club aims to provide a community for students interested in all things game design to congregate and express their creativity. We are in partnership with the Bronx Gaming Network! We put together events, such as game jams, in order to practice and show off skills learned from the club. We welcome students at any skill level, we will try our best to teach you fundamentals so you can make your ideas a reality!
