Bio

Hello, My Name is Dimitri Duncan, and welcome to my ePortfolio site. This portfolio will display my work at a advertising design student at NYC College of Technology, my variety of works from posters and different campaigns. I’m hoping you would enjoy my different works and displays of creativity, as you see my journey through different styles of work and building my brand and identity as a designer, and launching my design career.

COMD3523 Storyboard Concepts, FALL 2016

The storyboard is the visual version of the script. It consists of a number of panels that show the visual action of a sequence in a logical narrative. The storyboard is used as a tool for production or to assist in the selling of ideas to clients. The emphasis in this class is on story, idea and development. Students will design and present storyboards for topics including commercials, film and television titles and video presentations.

COMD4830 Senior Project, S2018

In this course students, working with individual faculty, will develop and complete a semester project for presentation. Assignments may include corporate identity programs, public service advertising/graphic design campaigns, design and illustration of a children’s book, website development and design, re-design of a magazine. A minimum of eight (8) meetings with the Senior Project advisor(s) must be scheduled to meet the requirements of the course. Each student enrolled in the course will meet with the advisor to discuss the ongoing developments within the project. Ongoing project evaluations will be maintained by the faculty advisor(s). Final evaluations will be made by the faculty advisor and the Senior Project review committee.

This course will explore studio photography as a means to communicate ideas. Students will learn to use lighting to transform subject matter into metaphor, mood and meaning as well as how to develop visual coherence within a group of images. Development of each student’s strategy for entering the design profession. Cumulative work will be critiqued by faculty and professional advisers. Students edit and re ne their portfolios to meet professional standards and will add materials as needed. The development of individual promotional pieces, resume writing, job search and interviewing skills will be emphasized.

Internship in Communication Design Assignment to field work/study situations of approximately eight to ten plus hours per week at a graphic arts-related internship site approved by the department internship director. Sites may be in areas such as advertising, printing, corporate communications or publishing. Students keep a log/journal to be shared in group seminars/discussions. Supervision is by faculty and by the job supervisor. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Openlab.
