Becoming Agents of Change: A Human Services 1101 and English 1101 Learning Community: In this Learning Community, we will investigate what it means to be an agent of change. By identifying the one social issue that you are most passionate about, you will explore what about your experiences make you interested in this issue, what your current role is in relation to this problem, and what you can do now and in the future to solve this problem.

An examination of the major ethical theories on what is morally right and wrong, and the meaning of moral concepts (e.g., the concepts of right and duty). Focus is on ethical problems associated with the practice of medicine and biomedical research.

This course provides an introduction to the vocabulary of social research, the logic of social inquiry and the analysis and use of research methods for human services practice. Students will learn the application of social research methods to problem-solving in the human services, and the application of research findings to social welfare policy and human services practice.
