Bio

Hello my name is Andre Goines; I’m twenty four years old and I am a freshman at New York City College Of Technology studying hospitality management. When I graduated from High school In 2011 I immediately started finding work the following summer and began employment at Whole Foods Market Tribeca in the Meat and prepared foods department from 2011 until 2014.
Though I was working as a team member(entry level) in both departments I learned basic back of house skills such as slicing meat , peeling vegetables , and cleaning. With my experience I resigned to pursue a career in hospitality management more specifically learning more skills to be able to work front of the house positions and eventually becoming a manager in the short run.
My goal is to eventually graduate from college having learned what I need to become an event planner or brand ambassador in the food industry

Attention Freshmen Writers: Armed with simply a pen and paper, we solve life’s complicated problems by breaking them down into simple steps. “In life there are no easy answers – or, are there?,” says our Mission Statement. “Large problems are actually workable when you break them down into simple steps. In this Learning Community (which combines English and Math), students will translate their own innate abilities into actionable tools for written communication and mathematical problem solving.” ABOUT US: We are a First Year Learning Community at CityTech (NYCCT) that unites two professors, myself (Sarah Schmerler, English Dept.) and Grazyna Niezgoda, Mathematics. I teach ENG 1101, and Prof. Niezgoda teaches Math 065. We share the same students in both our classes in an effort to build unity and communication. It’s been proven that Freshmen have better skill retention and stay with the college experience when we, the faculty, combine our forces and work together.
