After earning an Associate’s in Micro-Computer Business and Systems in 2003, Alberto Rivera graduated from City Tech’s Computer System program in 2005. Rivera went on to receive a Graduate Certificate in Labor Studies, at the Murphy Institute and a Master in Public Administration: Inspection and Oversight with a concentration in Organizational Assessment and Oversight, at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He’s currently seeking an Initial Certificate in Career and Technical Teacher Education.
During his time as a SEEK student at City Tech, Mr. Rivera served as a Student Government Association Senator, College Association Board Voting Student Member, and New Tech Times Copy Editor. As a higher education professional, Mr. Rivera served in a variety of capacities including University Committee on Recruitment Co-Chair, Campus Discovery Awareness Life Coach, Student Life & Development Club Advisor, Personnel Appeals Committee CLT Representative, and CLT Chapter of PSC Officer-at-Large.
He is currently the Hobsons Enrollment Specialist for City Tech’s Transfer Student Center and has sat on the Board of Director for City Tech’s Alumni Association as well as CUNY Board of Trustees Committee on Faculty, Staff and Administration. A member of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting, the American Society for Public Administration, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and Phi Sigma Chi Multicultural Fraternity.

The CUNY Service Corps will mobilize CUNY students, faculty and staff to work on projects that improve the short and long-term civic, economic and environmental sustainability of New York City and of its residents and communities. The program’s goals are three-fold: for students to make a meaningful difference through service while gaining valuable real-world work experience, earning a wage, and where appropriate, receiving college credit; for faculty members and staff, through their work with students in the program, to have additional opportunities to apply their expertise to addressing many of the city’s key challenges; and for residents, communities, and project sponsors to realize concrete benefits as a result of CUNY Service Corps projects.
The ePortfolio project at New York City College of Technology “City Tech” enables students to create professional websites that will contain a number of their academic examples and learning experiences.
My Clubs
We welcome the CityTech community to learn and grow in the areas of electrical and telecommunications technology. Every semester we provide a series of seminars with speakers that present the latest research. In addition, various workshops are also provided.
Phi Sigma Chi Multicultural Fraternity was founded on November 16, 1996 at the New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York. Phi Sigma Chi is a multicultural fraternity founded by six men, the Honorables Heraldo Gabriel, Carlos Lopez, Archer Hutchinson, Steven Lee, Noah Rodriguez, and Marvin Simon, who sought to establish an organization built on diversity and uniqueness. Striving to be diverse, different and unique has this organization where we want to be. We’ve formed a union amongst members of different races, religions and cultures all working toward a common goal to improve the state of our communities through leadership development. The first step toward accomplishing our goals was taken with the very first line, Alpha Chapter’s Alpha Line. Twenty men attended the first Informational Forum, ten were selected to pledge, and four crossed. These four were Elton Leonard, Jr., Robert Parris, Louis Osorio, Jr., and Robert Laroche. They laid the foundation for what will eventually become the largest fraternity at City Tech. Phi Sigma Chi rapidly grew in numbers and stature at City Tech. More lines were initiated and the service work that was produced by members strongly impacted the surrounding community. What was started at City Tech later expanded to Brooklyn College in the Fall of 1999. Founder Archer Hutchinson transferred to Brooklyn College in 1998 and helped create the Beta Chapter a year later with the help of Beta Chapter?s Alpha Line, Chetram Balram, Abid Hussain, Kelvin Barry, and Tyrek Richey. All Founding Brothers were student government members and leaders of various student clubs and organizations. At Brooklyn College Phi Sigma Chi sought to stand out from the crowd. One thing that set the group apart was its dedication to philanthropy and leadership development. The fraternity quickly started organizing speak-outs, drives, and campaigns to mobilize the student body around serious causes. In 2001 Founding Father Carlos Lopez set goals on expanding to the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) New York City campus. After an intense intake process Founder Lopez crossed one of our fraternity’s future leaders, Founding Brother Foster “Legacy” Burton, III. Founding Brother Burton was passionate about his vision for this fraternity. Foster mobilized the fraternity to reach towards new heights and always challenged the brotherhood to do and be more. Phi Sigma Chi is currently concentrating on national expansion and taking steps to improve our level of community outreach. We are currently networking with other Greek-letter organizations in an attempt to collectively tackle issues of concern. With the continued support from alumni and undergraduate members and our sister organization, Delta Sigma Chi Sorority, Phi Sigma Chi continues to be that organization that our founders had in mind.
Computer Information Association
The Computer is a student organization that provides a creative and safe learning environment where college students majoring in computer related courses and/or interested in computers and technology, work together with other students to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. The computer club plan and organize projects and activities with the purpose of enhance technical skills and knowledge outside the classrooms and develop team work skills and interpersonal communications among the club members. Members will learn to appreciate and enjoy a variety of software applications and technologies including such technologies as web design, programming, networks, video games design, phone application design and multimedia presentations. The Student Government Association is the representative body for students.
