In a brief paragraph (3-5 sentences), introduce yourself in whatever way you wish (what do you want your classmates to know about you?  Some ideas: where you’re from, where you live now, your major, your interests outside of school, etc.)

  1. Hi, my name is Nadia and I am completing my undergraduate degree as a Biomedical Informatics student. My love for medicine has led me to apply for the Physician’s assistant masters program this year. Aside from school, I am a mother of a teenager and a part-time baker. As vice president of the BIB Club and member of student council here at City tech, I love giving us students a voice. Although I am excited that this is my final semester, math has always been my weakness- I look forward to learning from everyone.

Outside of school, I deal with investment banking. I work with JPMC while attending school full time. Good luck to all this semester!

I live in Brooklyn New York and my major is computer science and what I want to take away form this course is to learn how to use spreadsheets better since I’m also using spreadsheets in another course I’m currently taking aswell

  11. Hi all, this is Suman, your instructor! I also want to introduce myself on here, so that you can know a little more about me:

    I was born and grew up in Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota); my parents had immigrated there from India. I have also lived in Chicago (for college), Ithaca, NY (for graduate school, at Cornell University), Ann Arbor, MI and San Francisco, CA, before moving to NYC 12 years ago. I have been teaching math at CityTech for the past 7 years; in addition to MAT1372, I have taught MAT1275, MAT1272, MAT1375, MAT1475 & MAT1575 (Calc 1 & 2), MAT2440 (Discrete Math & Algorithms), MAT2580 (Linear Algebra), and MAT2680 (Differential Equations). I also teach courses through an organization called the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research (https://thebrooklyninstitute.com/).

    Outside of math, I enjoy playing soccer, reading (both fiction & non-fiction), exploring the city, and spending time with my family(my wife and I have two sons, ages 9 and 7, and we live here in Brooklyn).

  12. My name is Samantha Mercedes and I was born and raised in the bronx. I am a bioinformatics major at City Tech. If all goes well, I will be earning my bachelors in June 2020. I want to become a dermatologist. I am very into makeup and skincare. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family and have a good time. Many people tell me that I look mean but I am not at all. I am actually a very silly girl and very funny.

  14. Hi everyone, My name is Tanisha I was born and raised in Brooklyn. I’m a liberal arts and science major but I plan on becoming a RAD TECH major. I have a health and beauty blog that I work on in my spare time. I look forward to learning a lot in this class. I’m sure learning how to make spreadsheets will be a skill I’ll need some time in the future. 🙂

    Associates in liberal arts and from there I plan on transferring to another CUNY School and pursue a bachelors degree.. in taking this course because calculus II is literally impossible and I need to fulfill some math credits. Good luck to you all!

  16. Hello everyone, my name is Jon and I am excited to learn throughout the upcoming months. I grew up in Queens NY and have been going to CityTech for two years now. I am currently pursuing my bachelors degree in Telecommunications engineering and I am half way there. My favorite subject ever since I started school has been math and I am eager to learn more. I look forward to working with all of you and learn together.

    1. Hey everyone. My name is Juan Xavier Pabon. My major is telecommunication engineering technology and this is my last required math class(thank God) for my degree. I look forward to learning spreadsheet functions and formulas as it’ll help me in my field while preparing reports and analyzing data. This is my first semester since 2016 so I’m a little rusty but am eager to make the most of this class.
