Book Process

In order to create my book, I first had to decide what I wanted my book to be about and my target audience. I chose to write my book about the stages of art, the love you have when you are first introduced to it, how you fall in love with it, how it can betray you, and the rebirth you have after going through this all. I wanted people to understand that art can hurt. When creating art, you may hear a lot of criticism from other people that might hurt your feelings, but importantly, your art might not come out the way you imagined it. Art is a long process but in the end you must grow from the decisions you make and love it. This then making my target audience people who are art majors or even do art for the fun of it.

I then had to decide how i wanted the art to be. I decided to create a black person figure looking at a black art piece while everything around them is filled with color. This helped to emphasize the bond between the two subjects. The next page was then a connection between the heart and the brain. I had these two images have a pop out effect to also emphasis the importance of how art can affect these major organs of the body. Next, I created a collage of a heart falling apart. This helps to show how art has betrayed the person. I also had images from a book named The Age of Innocence as well as magazine images of art, and fabric to give it texture. Lastly, I drew images of a three figure sign and a flower which helps to represent rebirth.

I sewed this book together with a needle and thread. This book meant a lot to me because I also love to write poetry and this book helped me to do so. This book represents everything I have been through and stand for. This process was a great experience.
