From The Field

On April 24, 2012, our class visited Duggal, a well known company that designs and produces large volumes of unique, custom, oversize and complex visuals and fixtures for many clients such as Hollister, Verizon, Apple, NBA, and many more. Throughout our walkthrough, we learned the process of printing from the computer to paper. Clients send an ad request that shows exactly what they want to get printed, this same request is edited and made in large print then is send to the client, if they are satisfy it is send to be printed.

Before that they have to choose what paper quality is best for this type of ad, the type of inks, and typeface, and if it has enough bleed. As soon as this is figure out they move on to printing and then to the lighting room where they check if the print works well with the lighting of the company where it is going to be placed. For example, Hollister their lighting in the store is dim so Duggal carefully checks and recreate the same type of lighting if it works well is printed.

Lastly the printed work is send to another room where is trimmed, recheck, and the final changes are apply. Then it is deliverer to the client, all this is the result of proper communication between the client and the designer.
