Journey on Finding an Internship

Finding an Internship isn’t always easy. You have to HUNT and HUNT until you find the right one.

For me, since I do not have prior related internships in the graphic design field, landing an internship was very difficult. Tumbling down all the websites for applying to Internships, I went through it all! From Indeed to Glassdoor, and even on ZipRecruiter. This hunt for an internship started 2 months before the class started. I would suggest finding one right after the Spring semester to get a paid Internship, the field is very competitive.

I applied for 5 internships then about 10 more and it came down to the requirements and if it was the right fit for me. Eventually, it came time for my internship class and I had 3 employees reach out to me. In this case, the work produced was not suitable for me to gain any skill sets. I reached out to my Internship Professor, who assisted and referred me to a non-profit organization.

The organization’s mission is to market-powered publishing. They are launching several publishing brands/domains that launched a domain and is a cross between Instagram and Medium, where all ad revenue goes to nonprofits 50+ percent of the nonprofits the viewers and contributors select. They create sweepstakes, as the current one allows anyone to enter to win $10,000 and an additional $1,000 for the non-profit that will be selected. Such as running a sweepstake allows the organization to create awareness and be reputable to others.
