Some grades posted

Dear Class,
The school requires me to post midterm marks on Brightspace. You can see them under the “Grades” tab, under “Midsemester grades.” These scores are based on a calculation of the percentage of points you have earned on the total points available so far, to this point in the semester. This includes all of the grades earned in the first half of the class: your participation grade for the first half of the semester, your philosophical journals to date, and two unit exams. You can see the marks and their meaning below:
P: Passing. 65-100%
BL: Borderline. 55-65%
U: Unsatisfactory <55%
SA: stopped attending
These grades reflect your performance on only the 50% of the course that has been graded so far, so that means that 50% of the grade is still to be determined. If your grade is not where you want it, please note that there is still time to make major improvements.
Additionally, I have also posted a Midsemester Participation grade. This is your grade for the Participation portion of your grade in the first half of the semester.. You can see details about how I calculate this grade on the “Assignment Overview” page.
Best,
Dr. M

Class schedule and upcoming exam

Hi Class—

A couple of things I want to make sure everyone knows going forward.

There is NO class tomorrow OR on Tuesday, 2/17. City Tech is closed for holidays on both days. Our next meeting will be Thursday, 2/19. We will discuss Kantianism on that day, so be sure to have done the reading.

Additionally, please note that our first unit exam is coming up on 2/26. This will be an objective test, unlike the rest of the tests this semester. We will discuss the text content and format in our study session on 2/24.

Enjoy your break!

Dr. M
