This is the outside of building 92. You can clearly see the large metal screen covering the building which keeps the building from getting too hot by reflecting the sunlight but allowing some light to get through the holes for visibility. The image is taken from an old picture of the USS Brooklyn as it was left in 1936.

I learned from the Building 92, Brooklyn Navy Yard Tour that sustainability is a process that refers to a form of development that seeks human well-being, preserving the environmental balance with its natural resources, considering the basis of all life forms.

Based on the tour guy, their sustainable development model is characterized by the all human activities impact to the environment and the use of natural resources in ways that not exceed the capacity of nature to absorb pollutants emitted causing their own regeneration. The Brooklyn Navy Yard has a comprehensive development, which involves three equally important elements each: Environment, Economy and Society.

What I understood is that from the three elements that seem dynamic, the company depends on the economy and the economy depends on the environment. Therefore, if we have a healthy level of natural resources Environment, there may be a viable economy, and with it a society.
