Writing Task Mentor Quote-Marc

” Let bet that Marc won’t become nothing in USA but he going into smoking, drinking alcohol and getting female pregnant ” -Auntie

-This quote right there was from my auntie. This story goes back to the years 2017, when she heard my family going to America. She was starting to hate us. On Saturday she came to my house because my family was making a party before they leave Haiti. That night she said the quote “ann nou pare keu Marc pap devni anyen nan vi men lap tonbe nan fimen ,bwe kleren and ansent pitit moun” she based on my behavior to say that quote because i like party , enjoyy my life and travel a lot.

When i came to NYC ,i decided to go to college to become something i always want to be (Nurse practitioner and anesthesiologist) and i want to make my family proud too. But I came to NYC without speaking english , when i took the cuny Cat test i failed. I have to take the clip program, this program teach student how to write essay , teach you some vocabulary and help you to develop your english. So, I spent one years in this program here i am now in the english 1101 co writing . That quote and these difficulties gave me strength to keep going on my route until I accomplish my dream. Never let people degrade or disrespects you and always prove yourself u can be a better person that anyone never thought you can be. Trust Yourself , you got this !!!!!

  1. O wow Marc, I sympathize with you. What a mean comment from your auntie, and what a far way you have come!

GOING FORWARD WITH THIS PIECE OF WRITING:

Suggestion, start with the Haitian language quote:

“A[capital]nn nou pare keu Marc pap devni anyen nan vi men lap tonbe nan fimen, bwe kleren and ansent pitit moun [punctuation ! or .]”

“Let [???] bet that Marc won’t become nothing in USA but he going into smoking, drinking alcohol and getting female pregnant [period or !]” -Auntie
    (translation) — Auntie

NOW describe the scene of the family goodbye party where you overheard her saying this. Remember create Theatre of the Mind as Denzel Washington says in our NYT article. Like in a play, set the scene of the family party.

You mention your early ways in Haiti: Can you show a few details of your earlier self and the bad habits that Auntie details?

Can you show me the hardship of coming to the U.S. where you don’t speak the language and show me one big challenge you faced early on because of language?

Then can you show me a time when you were feeling the hardships of struggling to learn English in the CLIP program?

Pay attention to Sentence Bourdary errors: comma splices, fragments, run ons. Capitalize beginning of sentences. Always capitalize “I” because YOU ARE IMPORTANT!
