My name is Mamadu Jalloh, I’m 19 Years old from Brooklyn, New York. My Parents are originally from Guinea, West Africa. I am majoring in Marketing and sales. I have a vested interest in Financial Literacy and I believe everyone should learn this at a young age. I am a freshmen in college at City Tech, I decided to pursue college after a thoroughly thinking about what I want to do with my future.
For fun I play Basketball, Video Games, and (Sometimes) Read books. I recommend books such as “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and “12 Rules For Life” by Jordan Peterson. Occasionally, I watch movies and Tv Shows, My personal favorite is “Money Heist”. Through my journey in city tech I plan to graduate with a bachelors degree in my current major and later on in life begin a career that revolves around it.
Interesting about Financial Literacy — So tell me — What is financial literacy? Is this taking classes and understanding economics, how financial world runs our world? Is it knowing how to balance your check book? Understanding credict card? Learning about stocks and investing? And what do you mean that you think everyone should know Financial LIteracy?
I think all of of the topics mentioned are sub-categories of Financial literacy. My understanding of Financial Literacy is having discipline and control over your money rather than letting the money develop control over you. For example, In the U.S there are a lot of people who get themselves in appalling predicaments by not understanding how to effectively use credit cards, resulting in high interest debt that keeps them entrapped.
