Writing task mentor quote – Ariana Dominguez

“I believe in you, I know you can do this if you work hard and you can accomplish anything you desire.”

The person that I consider as my mentor is my brother because he has always been supportive and is always reliable. Even when I was little I would always follow whatever he did and it would bother him but I knew deep down he cared for me. He was my role model even to this day. He is the reason I’m in college right now. Seeing him go off to college was hard but I would always see him put in the effort. Even when it got hard for him he never gave up which made me want to work hard as well. Although he was miles away I always wanted to make him proud.

Especially when I had to make the big decision on choosing which college and major I was going for. I was really stuck, had no idea where I wanted to go but my brother stood by me and together we went over all the schools that best qualified me. And I’m so thankful for that because I was under so much pressure from my family I felt like they didn’t understand me. My family always wanted a doctor or a dentist in the family so when I chose radiology I felt like I wasn’t making them happy but my brother told me as long as you’re happy you’ll do great.

  1. Hey Ariana, I have an older sister and she’s also been my role model and a huge part of my support system. If it weren’t for my sister I wouldn’t have been here working my way to be a radiologist too.

  2. I have an older bother who is also a big part of my life. Even though school is not really his thing he always makes sure that I’m on top of my work. When ever I’m wrong he always there to make sure to put me straight. He is also there to give me brotherly advice all the time.

  3. Hello Ariana I really love that you have a supportive sibling. In my family my siblings are distant from each other and we don’t have deep meaningful comments. I love how he is a role model to you. I would love to relate but I can’t. I’m very proud for you. I wanted to tell you keep up the good work. And you’re writing is very beautiful.

  4. Good work.

Now — Can you reach back into your memory to find a time that your brother helped you in a school struggle? Did he sit with you to help you decide on a college choice? Did he tutor you? Show me a concrete scene that is an example of how he has influenced your educational life.

ALSO — are you and your brother the first in your family to attend college? Is this a reason why he is so supportive to you?

Remember we are going to write an education narrative.
