This is a Video Interview – The Life of A Single-Parent
Intro: Hello everyone! My name is Davina Moore and today I would like to discuss the effects of single-parent households on child development and how we, as a collective, can shed some light on the negativity surrounding this topic. I have interviewed some remarkable women of various backgrounds, who have one thing in common. They are all single mothers. I also interviewed a professor in Sociology that can help us understand from a socioeconomic point of view on why social norms play a significant role in the outpour of negativity surrounding single-parent households.

Outro: As a single mother of a 2-year-old little girl, I am terrified of not being enough for my daughter to be able succeed and be happy in life. I have had ups and downs in navigating motherhood on my own. From doctors telling me that my daughter may need to be evaluated, to her daycare teachers telling me how smart and wonderful she is. From not knowing how I am going to build a life for her, to pursuing a college degree. This video is for all the single parents who have had the seed of doubt planted in them, whether by sitting on google researching how to raise a child alone, like I have. Being told by family, friends or even strangers that your child will fall behind. I hope that this video will help you in finding that all is not lost just because you are raising your child or children alone. Hard work, faith, and love can be the factors that push them to succeed and be happy in life. They will remember the sacrifices you made along the way to ensure that they can pursue their goals and dreams in life.
