This texts hooks the audience by addressing a serious and timely issue. This being hate crime, emphasizing how we need to act to help decrease this issue at hand. We can see that this group StandByMe uses their research to not only help their viewers understand what their reading but also how to properly and safely make an impact towards helping others on a day to day basis. They showcase information like definitions, tips and statistics in order to build rapport where the viewer can dictate how to act accordingly. Though we dont see a specific story they do talk about scenarios like witness incidents for us to visualize ourselves in and understand. The whole entire text we see clearly, large and bold subtitles along with bright photos and bullet points for easy navigation and understanding. This text has used the common but effective way of structuring. We see as we read one section it corresponds to the next, like steps. The introduction to the issue, definitions, actionable steps, online intervention tips, benefits of intervening, and reporting resources. This clear segmentation guides the viewer logically from understanding the problem to taking action accordingly. The audience though it can apply to a wide range being everyone I see this more targeted to those who have seen incidents of the sorts but haven’t acted upon it. And with a call to action being used to help close the text after giving everyone not only the understanding of the issue but now the steps and actions to put this into use it encouraging us to report hate crimes and reminding them of their ability to make a difference. I personally like the visuals it helps engage the audience more and I would use clear structure as they did. But I would avoid the lack of storytelling which is a huge part since it really gives the audience something to maybe relate or connect since its became personal.
