I expected to learn how to write better essays, and have a better understanding of literature. I did learn how to write better essays, and I also learned how to understand the meaning behind passages, and what the author was hinting to. I though I would not have liked this class, but in the end I enjoyed the class, and I think what I learned throughout the semester will help me in the future.

Do not be worried about this class, it is a lot easier than you think, and just have fun.

I expected this class to be pretty difficult since english isn’t one of my favorite subjects but turns out this ended up being a class I really enjoyed. I learned a lot in this class this semester and I learned a lot about my self. I feel like I became a better writer. I learned different ways you can write an essay. Throughout these three units I got feedback that helped me think of ways that I could improve my essay. Some advice I would give to students that are planning on taking this course next semester is to work on your time management skills and to be willing to learn and let other classmates read your work and give you feedback.

I expected to write more in depth essays. Learn some stuff about writing composition, I don’t know any specifics but yes writing composition.

What I actually ended up learning was how to make a portfolio, how to write an annotated bibliography, and how to write an educational narrative.

The class was very impactful, in that it introduced me to new genres, new forms of writing, and new ways of reading or revising.

To the new students, I’d tell them to get their assignments done early and to write their Openlab comments, since they’re a big part of their grade. And the class isn’t difficult.

I expected to learn about how to write an essay or what we can do to improve the way we write. In this class, I learned how to format a bibliography and what it is. I feel that this class helped me because there were times that I had to write essays/ paragraphs in other classes and I took the knowledge that I learned in this class to help with my other assignments. Advice that I would give to students taking this course next semester is to read the stories and documents that are going to be given, carefully and to make sure that you fully understand what you just read.

    • I was expecting to learn new tips on how to write better and I did actually learn ways to write better than I used to. I learned how to read and write from a different perspective as well as be considerate to my audience and ensure that they can easily follow along with what I’m saying. I learned to be more descriptive in my writing because I have to keep in mind that the reader may not have as much knowledge on the topic I’m writing about. I liked this class and I feel like the semester went by so fast I’m a bit surprised that I’m almost done with my first semester of college.
    • The advice I would give to students taking this course next semester is to not wait until the last minute to start the major assignments, It’s better to start them as soon as you can because you’ll have more time to ask the prof questions and be able to revise your paper before it’s due. While you are able to do revisions towards the end of the semester you’d be stressing yourself out way too much if you wait until then to do that because you’ll have finals to study for too.

I expected to learn how to write educated papers more then 2 pages long ,what I actually learned was how to write research papers and how to cite pages correctly. I enjoyed this class it was fun and the writing prompts for the papers were understandable and simple. I’m glad I learned about research papers to help me in other classes. something I would tell future students taking this class is, make sure you come to class check emails and complete your work even if its a short writing it can help you in the class later.

I expected this class to be a bit more difficult and that we’d have more work to do , but it was very lovely , the class was very fun and interactive even on days where myself of other students didn’t feel well or were unable to make it, whenever we asked what was done our peers always relayed our missed information perfectly because Mr.Lopatin was always clear and direct with his information ,I’ve learned to be more descriptive in my writing which helps to get my points across in my work and having learned about Research papers , I haven’t had to write any papers for my other classes but it would’ve helped tremendously….. this class was definitely a 1000000/10 I also really appreciate how understanding and calm our teacher is would advise everyone to take this class.
