This course provides an analysis of current trends in color, fiber, and fashion, and examines their influence on sales forecasting within the apparel industry. Students will conduct research and develop seasonal fashion forecasts based on trend analysis.
Through this process, students will gain the skills to predict future trends in color, fabric, silhouettes, and textures, and translate those insights into cohesive trend forecasts and merchandising plans. These plans will include mood boards, flat sketches, and specification details. Students will also learn how to effectively communicate their concepts in a format that can be used by pattern makers and production teams at the foundational stage of fashion design.
