The Library is Everywhere

Even though City Tech Library is closed until further notice, our resources and services and dedicated library faculty and staff are still available to support you!

Accessing Library Resources from Off-Campus

All students and faculty have access to hundreds of databases (with articles, newspapers, audio and video) and thousands of ebooks from the library website. Login with your City Tech ID.

Interlibrary Loan

While the library is closed, Interlibrary Loan will continue to fill article and individual book chapter requests and deliver them electronically. We will fill requests for individual book chapters including books that are normally available from CityTech or other CUNY campuses.

Please note: Because many other libraries are closed across the country, we may not be able to fill all requests, but we will try our best!

Questions? Email us at interlibraryloan@citytech.cuny.edu.

Ask a Librarian

We’ll miss you at the Ask a Librarian desk but you can still chat with a librarian for help with research 24×7. Get in touch with your questions!

Updates to Library Policies

Don’t worry about that overdue book!

  • All CUNY libraries now allow at least 9 renewals of regular loan books.
  • All regular loan and semester loan items renew automatically.
  • Overdue and recall fines are eliminated for all regular loan items.

The Library is Already in Your Course

No matter what platform you’re using, library resources are available wherever you already are. Find subject specific research guides with databases, citation help, and more on the library website, Blackboard and OpenLab.

Using Blackboard?

Use the City Tech Library on your course menu link to access a research guide that covers research basics and includes citation resources, multi-disciplinary databases, and more.

Using OpenLab?

The Library Tools widget is available in new OpenLab courses by default. This widget allows students to search for library sources from within your course and has a direct link to our main website and 24X7 “Ask a Librarian” chat service.

Don’t see the widgets you want in OpenLab or interested in adding subject specific resources to your course site? Learn more about custom integration options and write to Prof. Nora Almeida for assistance.

Virtual Library Instruction

Our information literacy instruction program for ENG1101 or any course has moved online, too! Use our online Library Orientation to introduce your students to academic research, or contact Prof. Anne Leonard for more information about online library instruction.

Open Educational Resources (OER)

Make use of open educational resources (OER) and other free materials to support instruction. Find open / free resources, or browse CUNY and City Tech OER. For more information, contact Prof. Cailean Cooney.

Copyright Guidance and Accessibility for Online Courses

Have questions about making course readings available electronically as you take your course online? Want to make sure all students can access course content easily, even if they’re using a smart phone or don’t have access to software they might have on campus?

For help following Accessibility standards, see Introduction to Accessibility.

For help understanding Fair Use and Copyright, see: CUNY Fair Use & Copyright Guide.

Contact Prof. Nora Almeida with questions about copyright for online instruction.

Contact Your Subject Specialist

Each discipline and department at City Tech has a subject specialist, a library faculty member who can collaborate with you on research and information literacy instruction, collection development and open educational resources, accreditation and curriculum development, and more. Contact us with your questions!

We want to stay in touch and hear from you if there are things you need to help with! Find us on Instagram and Twitter @citytechlibrary
