RefWorks Faculty Workshop Wed 10/7

Faculty, join us in the library for a workshop this week:
Introduction to RefWorks for Citation Management.
Streamline your research with RefWorks, a bibliographic citation management tool available to all City Tech faculty. With RefWorks it’s easy to import references from online databases, organize your references into folders by topic or project, and generate a bibliography formatted in a variety of citation styles. In this workshop we’ll cover the basics of using RefWorks from both on- and off-campus.
When: Wednesday, October 7, 1-2 pm

Calling all faculty! Please join us at the library this Wednesday, September 16, from 1-2pm for a workshop:
Getting the Most from EBSCO Article Databases
The City Tech Library subscribes to more than 20 EBSCO article databases covering a wide range of scholarly and professional subjects. During this workshop you’ll learn strategies to help you search these databases more effectively. We’ll also review EBSCO’s research productivity tools, from keeping lists of search results to emailing articles to creating search and journal publication alerts.

Anyone Can Blog (And So Can You!)

facom_library-poster-04_23_09The City Tech Library, in partnership with the Faculty Commons, is pleased to invite all faculty to attend a workshop on blogs (weblogs). Blogs continue to change how scholarly ideas are expressed and exchanged, and impact teaching and learning as well. Participants will learn the basics of setting up and maintaining a blog using WordPress, and finding scholarly information in the “blogosphere.”

Faculty Workshop on Open Access Publishing on 3/31

Open Access Publishing: Revolution in Scholarly Communication

The Open Access movement is revolutionizing scholarly communication—scholars are making their research freely available on the Internet. We’ll learn how and why the Open Access movement arose, the impact of recent NIH legislation, and how to find Open Access journals and other content. We’ll also discuss issues of scholarly communication outside of the traditional publishing system including peer-review, preservation, impact factor, and differences between academic disciplines. Workshops are open to all City Tech faculty members.

CINAHL: A Resource for Health Professionals

Come take a closer look at a familiar tool! At Thursday’s workshop, we’ll explore strategies for finding journal articles in CINAHL, an essential database for nursing and the health professions.  Topics covered include basic to advanced searching using keywords and CINAHL Headings and applying limiters for more precise results.  We’ll also discuss how CINAHL search strategies can be used in the EBSCO interface of MEDLINE.  All faculty are invited to attend.

Faculty Workshop: Advanced RefWorks

All faculty are invited to attend this Thursday’s workshop on the specialized features of RefWorks citation management software. We’ll insert references directly into word processing documents and generate bibliographies with Write-N-Cite, create custom citation styles, and more. Participants should be familiar with RefWorks or have attended an introductory RefWorks workshop.
