Welcome, Prof. Maura Smale!
The library department welcomes Assistant Professor Maura Smale. Maura comes to City Tech with an MA and PhD in anthropology from NYU, an MLIS from Pratt, and a BA from The University of Chicago. Her previous library experience includes work as an adjunct at Brooklyn College, where she was a reference and instruction librarian.
Besides teaching experience (anthropology, NYU), Maura was Project Manager/Online Editor for American Express Publishing (Food and Wine, Travel and Leisure, etc.) and Production Supervisor for Disney Online. Before that she engaged in archaeological fieldwork. She has a number of publications in print or in press–in archaeology and library resource management.
At City Tech, as Information Literacy Librarian and Coordinator of Library Instruction, Maura will lead library efforts to expand and enhance the work we do in these areas.
