Our research includes article research, data collection, type of performance  , and performance site observation .

First, we were looking for news articles from reliable sources for the details of train delay issue such as the statistics and main causes. We did research using multiple resources that the library offers such the New York Times, The Wall Street Journals, LexisNexis, and much more. Upon doing a lot of researching on the train delay topics, we found information that affected everyone taking the MTA subway.  We found additional information referring to our topic on train delays and everyone should experience some form of MTA delays on a daily basis including tourists that comes to NYC just to visit. We were able to collect detail such as the contents of the emergency rescue plan of the subway, and we found out that the reasons for mechanical issues such as power outages, signals, track switches, liters causing track fire, and people. After data research, we knew that  we got the actual stats of rail fires and delay rates, that emergency rescue plan was mainly focusing on clearing of track, and that signal problem was the base of the delay problem and still couldn’t be solved.

Then we had to think about a performance which can effectively represent the train delay problems.  We chose the puppet show in a sarcastic and funny way because our audiences are most likely subway passengers who have been suffering from it and tourists who would be interested to watch a puppet show. We didn’t choose drama, or other intervention performance because we think that it is easier to draw audiences’ attention from inanimated objects.  The audiences would have a concept of what we are going to present when they see the puppets with angry faces and train model.  During the performance, we were able to engage the audiences. They were so empathy with what the characters were suffering in the puppet shows.  We found out the per

Last but not least, we choose the City Hall area as our performance site because it is the first subway station in 1904, which represent the origin of New York Subway. The city hall area is large. We decided to do our performance in the municipal park, where is an exit of city hall station. A lot of commuters pass through the exit daily.
