Zine comes from its original term called fanzine, generally published by fans of science fiction. According to Zine World, a zine is a self-published, small circulation, non-commercial booklet or magazine, usually produced by one person or a few individuals. A zine can be in relation to whatever the creator wants it to be about. Zine’s have their own meaning. It’s like a blog where you can write down your own personal ideas/thoughts. Zines are useful for people who want to express themselves. Creating a zine is ideal for people who are creative. In Elands reading, he criticizes that we are a global institution and we depend on the information which we were educated on. We listen to people who have higher authority instead of having our own ideas. He believes this is the way we see reality based upon what institutions are teaching.
In chapter one of Content, Computing, Communications, the authors Meikle & Young talk to us about how ITunes developed. ITunes was introduced by Apple in 2001. You could use ITunes to listen and organize your music It was introduced so that users could ‘rip, mix, and burn’ their music. In 2003 Apple introduced the ITunes music store, where it was both digital and networked. By introducing the music store, it gave you the opportunity to buy not only music but movies, TV shows, books, games, and images as well. Technology went from being something small to something that is so big which continues to change and grow.
Throughout chapter one of Research Strategies, Badke begins to tell us about what information is and how it started. He takes us back before there was print all the way up to today’s most useful source of information such as the web. Badke explains to us that all information found online may not be true.
In chapter eight, Badke tells us about the various types of research strategies. He lists several different methods such as note taking, photo copying, and the use of the internet. These methods can be used to help form a well-developed research paper. There are many advantages and disadvantages of using these methods.
