Well i still got a long way to go with my career and personal goals. But i am sure that by the end of the summer i should have advanced on them. But the most important thing i took away from this class was to improve on my writing and get better with expressing myself. To others in a way that they understand and gets my point across to them. But ultimately we are not done here there is always something else we can work on to help improve and make us a better writer.
Final reflection
Luis Gonzalez 5/18/22
I believe that I have learned a lot of new things that helped me improve and be a better overall writer and in general with my life. I had a tough time trying to adapt to these online classes. I think this may be because the programs and websites used are difficult and confusing to follow. But one must learn to be calm and to take things one at a time. I also try not to worry and stress out as it doesn’t help in anything. For example, open lab and blackboard were so confusing I was unsure how I was supposed to get these done. I did online research to try and get some examples to get the assignments done. I have also learned that I am still not the best at writing and will never be perfect. But I believe that putting all those tool wire games into practice in our writing was helpful as it brought some concepts that I had forgotten about or haven’t thought about in a long time. So that was super helpful. For example, one that was very useful is the one about how to organize your writing. And how to plan with a list of the process of writing first make sure to find information data related to the topic and so own. It helped me with learning how to do research along with working on when to do rough drafts.
I was really glad when our professor helped us out and gave us feedback, It was super helpful. I took some of her advice and it helped. One of those was installing Grammarly, it was like a second person reviewing and catching the things I was used to writing. I was using a lot of words the wrong way and how they should not be used such as their and there. I believe this may have been because of the influence of my family’s background as I am the oldest and my parents don’t speak fluent English like the article “Experience with various English’s” . I realized this when I looked into my unit 1 writing piece “ I am in my cold air-conditioned classroom during the summer in my Ela class. Our teacher gave us an assignment that was going to be due at the end of the week. I was a very scared shy kid, this was because I was a terrible speller, I only spoke Spanish at home. My parents didn’t know anything about the American culture they were immigrants from Mexico. In class, I felt like I never fitted in, I was always embarrassed and got bullied when they picked on me. When I first wrote this sentence I wrote it as I have never new of punctuation. It was a run-on sentence with no punctuation such as periods, and commas, and used the words in the wrong way to express myself which ended up confusing the reader. I was trying to write with the type of English I had used at home. I did this and I couldn’t see this always trying to add some of my Spanish accents to my writing and to me it made sense. But with Grammarly, I had some of those situations solved as it overlooked my writing and added some clarity as well. I struggled with trying to keep on top of the assignments I felt with so much going on with my life and other classes along with work made trying to be on top of my assignments very difficult. And then this caused some issues like my work piling up and not being able to hand it in on time. I believe this was something everyone in the class faced. It made me upset and stressed out over it. I am glad though because these are the ways to learn valuable lessons. For example life a;; ways have something to throw at us but once must stay calm take things one at a time head up and keep on pushing. Like the professor has said once something is better than nothing and that is one hundred percent true.
I had also always struggled with ways how I could start with ideas for assignments and how to do research for these writing pieces. I learned that there are so many sources but there are specific ways you could use them to help improve your writing and help make your writing more professional and help get your point across to the reader. I learned this was very important threw the article “Annoying ways people use sources,” by Kyle D Stedman”. In the article, he compared sloppy or bad writing to driving slow drivers. This opened my eyes that this is so true sometimes you read a writing piece and it is just terrible the quality makes me interested and wants to go to sleep. So consistency is vital, to a successful writing piece. Sloppy writing could be when I failed to introduce my sources like not citing what or where the information was taken from. And this is comparable to when one is switching lanes on the freeway with no signal lights; it’s unpredictable and gets the reader frustrated.
How could I use this in my daily life? Well, you can say it has improved my overall writing and has made me feel confident and get out there more. As I know that I am not the best at writing and fail to fix the problems I may have with it. For example, now when I text daily. I try to make sure my texts make sense the punctuation is on point along with get my point across clearly. And the reader gets what I want them to get across to them. As I think sometimes when I speak, I speak broken English which makes me feel not confident at times. But if I focus on some of the problems, I think I may be facing it would be super helpful to seem more professional and be taken seriously. As I have ambitions and goals and being a better writer and communicator will help take me a long way.
Unit 3 New Genre
Made in China
By Luis Gonzalez Have you ever gone to the store looking for something? And notice that most products say made in China. Well, the majority of stores have products with labels, stickers stating that the product was made in China. If your curious just like me then next thing that pops into one’s head is “why is everything made in China? And if you were to ask around why this is they would tell you China produces cheap products with a cheap labor force. Well, it is partially true but that is just not the complete answer there is so much more to it.
Back in 2012 Olympics, there was a huge scandal in the United States with the U.S. Olympics team. The track suits they wore in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics were made in China. Well, why was this well may products in our households are made in China but why is this?
There is 3 main reasons why products are made in China
most products on the shelfs at store are made in China. The first main one is that China became a very popular manufacturing hub in the 1980’s once It started opening itself to the world. Jennifer Pak and Sabri Ben-Anchor, From Market place.org, who wrote the article “Manufacturing: The China inc. model”. They state That “Infrastructure must be capable of supporting the efficient export of goods, and the government is needed to facilitate this. China’s government invested heavily in infrastructure and building markets to support domestic industries. why doesn’t the U.S. produce certain things — specifically, cheap goods like face masks or other personal protective gear, to the alarm of many Americans during the pandemic — labor is one part of the complex answer. The U.S. is a wealthy country, and labor is expensive — too expensive to competitively make cheap labor-intensive products”. These problems are that in the U.S. workers have rights such as minimum wage and a workplace free of dangerous conditions. From this article we can see that they are expressing to us that the U.S. is not like third-world countries that live in poverty, life in the U.S. is very decent, and therefore the U.S. can’t produce goods that are cheap because people in the U.S. have rights and their labor is more expensive. Compared to China which had prepared and is well suited to producing cheaper items faster and easier. so, it’s more convenient for us to go to China and produce products that are cheap products
Business insider
Manufacturing in China is done because of the skill and sheer volume of the engineers. For example, apple products require advanced tools and engineers. “In the U.S. you could have a meeting of tooling engineers and I am not sure we could fill the room. In China you could fil multiple football fields”. Tim Cook Discusses Apple’s Future in China I Fortune Dec 6, 2017 The Apple CEO sits down with us at this year’s Fortune Global Forum to discuss innovation, Apple’s successes and challenges in China, and what’s next for the world’s most admired company.
Finally “China has amended its treatment of foreign investments to attract higher-quality foreign investment and upgrade processing exports in order to transform itself from a world sweatshop to a global manufacturing center”. As it is stated in “Made in China: From World Sweatshop to a Global Manufacturing Center?” By Sung Yun-Wing. “His paper argues that foreign investment is a second-best instrument that helps China to succeed in export-led growth by circumventing the many distortions that discriminate against domestic private enterprise”. This article proves to us that China is stepping up its skills to better compete with other countries by giving businessmen from other countries an opportunity that wasn’t given in their hometowns.
So next time you go shopping and pick up a products that says it was made in China. Just know there is so much more that happens that costumers like me and you don’t understand, it is never simple.
Authors statement
Luis Gonzalez
Made in China
The article I wrote Is called Made in China. I decided to go with a article I believe this is the best way to explain my topic about why most products in the United states are made in China. I want to try and do a article like in your googles article section right under your search bar how it has so many interesting trending topics. I believe that when I will put some of cartoon it may grab the readers attention. And will bring some type of mood maybe makes the reader interested and may spark curiosity as this question did to me. I got curios on this topic because I had to go buy some storage containers from the store and I flipped the container around I see, made in China. Then I started looking at other products and wondering where those things were made, and they also said made in China. What made me even more curios was when I bought a sweater that was higher quality merino wool and expected it to be made somewhere in Europe, but it also said made in China which was super weird to me. So here I am making an article on why things are made in China not here in the United States.
Well, I got my ideas and format of this article from other examples I have seen such as articles made by vice, NBC news, and YouTube videos such as inside edition along with new stories. As those are the best ways interesting question are presented and I have learned from so I felt this was the best way to express my question, thoughts, and answers to this subject. I believe their images the tone and the way the article is in is what makes the reader understand why so many products in the shelfs of American consumers are made in China.
This article means a lot to me, and this is because I was very interested in this question. And when I asked someone else Why are most of the products made in China? they always just say oh the labor is so much cheaper in China. But that is not just all there is so much to it. And I guess finally I was given a chance to solve on of my most thought questions. It is going ok with the article I just feel like it is very difficult organizing my thoughts and getting them together in a wat that the reader will understand what I am trying to get across threw this article. I would also like to add some photographs that will grab the readers attention. But ultimately I want the reader that reads my article to get something out of my writing.

Unit 2 Annotated bibliography
Made in China
Luis Gonzalez
Why are so many products made in China?
I am interested in this question because you look at mostly any product in the U.S., and most products in the store say “made in China”. And this has made me curious on why it says made in China when there are so many other countries. Why do other countries not produce products? This question to me is very confusing and would like to get to the bottom of it.
When I researched the question “Why are so many US products made in China”. This then led me to find examples of why or what makes China make all these products. What does China have that these other countries don’t have? I do know that China has cheaper labor but why is that? What caused it? This can maybe be proven by the data. I found reasons why this is happening and what is the U.S. doing? As well as how other countries are approaching this same situation. Maybe even the consequences that are coming from this situation or the solution to this problem. To ultimately get a better understanding of this question, “Why are so many products made in China”? If I find any sources that contradict my thesis, I will include them as source material, This means”,” I will not throw this idea away; I will continue this idea and expand on it. I would not change my assumptions; I think one needs to stick with their original position”,” but learn to add to it as well. I have a couple of genres that helped me understand the question I had better. “Why are so many US products made in China”. The genres that I used are two articles one market research and a book. I think these are really good sources because they have a lot of information related to this topic. And would help us understand some of the reasons why the U.S. has so many products made in China

“Sabri Ben-Achour and Pak, Jennifer”. “Manufacturing: The China Inc. Model.” Marketplace, 2 Feb. 2021, https://www.marketplace.org/2021/02/02/manufacturing-the-china-inc-model/.
Let’s start with Jennifer Pak and Sabri Ben-Anchor, From Market place.org, who wrote the article “Manufacturing: The China inc. model”. They state That “Infrastructure must be capable of supporting the efficient export of goods, and the government is needed to facilitate this, according to Wen. China’s government invested heavily in infrastructure and building markets to support domestic industries”. So what I took from the article was that China has invested heavily in their future to prepare and to be better prepared, for other countries to come to them for manufacturing. The statement made by Jennifer Pak and Sabri Ben-Anchor is That the “Industrialization ladder To the question, why doesn’t the U.S. produce certain things — specifically, cheap goods like face masks or other personal protective gear, to the alarm of many Americans during the pandemic — labor is one part of the complex answer. The U.S. is a wealthy country, and labor is expensive — too expensive to competitively make cheap labor-intensive products”. This proves to us that the U.S has problems with its manufacturing infrastructure. Compared to China which had prepared and is well suited to producing cheaper items faster and easier. so, it’s more convenient for us to go to China and produce products that are cheap products. And this is since they will still be able to sell them at cheaper prices than what they would sell if it was made in the United States. So, then this tells us that ultimately companies choose to manufacture in China because of way too many regulations in the United States. Also, for us Americans, it doesn’t end up affecting our internal right to the labor market.

most products in the U.S. say made in China as I discovered by the book “The new global Hub of it outsourcing” By Etching, Cyril. They state in their extensive research “China is positioning? itself for leadership in this growing area.”-William G. Parrett Chief Executive Officer, Deloitte, May 2007″In his book, Cyril Etching addresses? An important? Perspective: China is not only ‘the factory of the world,’ it is? Also becoming a major technology services hub. For all of us, it is a fascinating experience to participate in this impressive evolution.”-Josef M. Mueller Chairman & CEO, Nestle (China) Lt CONFERENCE PROCEEDING” This shows us how the authors of “The new global Hub of it outsourcing” made investigations, analyzed date made experiments on why and how China is producing most of the products in the U.S., They even went to the extent of talking to Josef M. Mueller Chairman & CEO, Nestle who produces and manufactures all different types of technology. China is becoming the center of the tech world as it was just proven”,” they are ready and setup up for us businesses to just take their ideas and the Chinese factories get it done. And this is because they are set up in a way that makes it easier for U.S. companies to get their products done in a simpler way than if it was done back home. For example, in the book, it stated the factories are set up in a way in which they have produced technology in a way not seen before they could produce prototypes in days compared to in the U.S. where they take weeks to get it done. It also stated that in China they have villages dedicated to building certain products. Let’s say with phones if a prototype requires a certain piece of tech they can get it, in a matter of hours they have a huge variety of technology pieces at their disposal. Which makes it so convenient there is no way the U.S. could compete with that.
Ding, Ming Lei, et al. “Research on the Building of the Chinese National Manufacturing Innovation Center Based on the Industrial Technology Alliances.” 2016 35th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), TCCT, 2016, pp. 9451–56, https://doi.org/10.1109/ChiCC.2016.7554856.
A conference proceeding also stated that the requirement of “Made in China 2025”, it is an important task for the construction of Chinese National Manufacturing Innovation Centers. And this is based on the “Strategic Alliance on Industrial Technology Innovation (SAITI)”. They state “{Manufacturing is the country’s source for innovation of the overall industrial system. Made in China 2025 proposed and tells us that China is going to fully use existing scientific and technological resources to create several manufacturing innovation center. Around the major common needs of the industry they get this done by promoting cooperation between the government and society . which is what the United States fails to do, It is a new model of industrial innovation. As well as a strategic alliances coordinating government, industry, academia, and university. They carry out demonstrations on major key generic technology research and industrialization. China’s strategic alliance on industrial technology innovation has made remarkable achievements to promote the industry in terms of innovation and development. It is necessary to further draw on advanced international experience, to strengthen the construction of the manufacturing innovation center. This tells us that China is ultimately focused on its technology and on ways, how to make their manufacturing process better. When it also stated, “SAITI is defined as a technical innovation organization consisting of companies, universities, research institutions or other organizations, based on the needs of enterprises and common interests of all parties, to enhance the ability of industrial technology innovation, with a legally binding contract to protect the joint development.[2] It has complementary advantages and is benefit-sharing and risk-sharing”. So, I think Currently, China implemented this because it is working if everyone works together then against each other. They grow together as a group, which we see that is working since the U.S. is one of the countries. That goes over to unload its problem with their products since China’s manufacturing industry is just waiting to solve the problems with so many hands-on tasks. Governments at all levels have offered great support. The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) supports nearly 150 SAITI. According to incomplete statistics, the current number of SAITI in Beijing reaches more than 100”. Well, It Further gave me an intensive understanding and study of the Manufacturing innovation center in the United States. It puts forward the development ideas for the promoting of SAITI and policy recommendations for the manufacturing innovation centers.
Sung, Yun-Wing. “Made in China: From World Sweatshop to a Global Manufacturing Center?” Asian Economic Papers, vol. 6, no. 3, MIT Press, 2007, pp. 43–72, https://doi.org/10.1162/asep.2007.6.3.43.
This article proves to us that China is stepping up its skills to better compete with other countries by giving businessmen from other countries an opportunity that wasn’t given in their hometowns. when it comes to manufacturing and producing goods China is on top because there is a better opportunity. The government supports them which only makes it easier for their foreign investors to improve and creates an expansion in their manufacturing industry. Which then leads to why the U.S. goods saying made in China. This article is important because it is from the Asian economic papers that deal with China’s data on economic information. Ultimately”,” China remains an appealing destination. And one can say that this is partly because of there investors. And due to its investment incentives in high value-added sectors, its high research and development expenditure, and its relatively stable internal political environment. Well, China is looked like a country of manufacturing; this is because they invested heavily in their future of manufacturing and have been fully equipped for manufacturing. Over the years by their foreign investors. Meanwhile, in the U.S., the companies decided to go to China instead of investing in their hometown a factor in this could be the high number of regulations in the workplace.
Why are so many products made in China? I am interested in this question because you look at mostly any product in U.S., and you see made in China I really didn’t know why, only that labor was cheap over there but that was pretty much it. China’s government invested heavily in infrastructure and building markets to support domestic industries. So as you can see China has opened its doors up for foreign investments to attract higher-quality foreign investment and upgraded its way of processing exports to transform. China could be seen as the world’s sweatshop of the global manufacturing center. China is positioning itself for leadership in this growing area. China is not only ‘the factory of the world,’ it is also becoming a major technology services hub. China’s strategic alliance on industrial technology innovation has made remarkable achievements to promote the industry in terms of innovation and development. It is necessary to further draw on advanced international experience, to strengthen the construction of the manufacturing innovation center. This tells us that China is ultimately focused on its technology and on ways, how to make its manufacturing process better”,” which outworks U.S. factories and gives them in no way to compete. U.S. chooses China to produce its goods since it is more convenient and better for the U.S.
Unit 1 Educational narrative
Luis Gonzalez
I am in my cold air-conditioned classroom during the summer in my Ela class. Our teacher gave us an assignment that was going to be due at the end of the week. I was a very scared shy kid, this was because I was a terrible speller, I only spoke Spanish at home. My parents didn’t know anything about the American culture they were immigrants from Mexico. In class, I felt like I never fitted in, I was always embarrassed and got bullied when they picked on me to share. My classmates laughed at my writing, I hated this class it was very difficult for me. I found it very hard to express myself because of the cultural difference. The assignment was about a happy family moment, First, I couldn’t get started with an idea to write about. I listened to all my friends and how they had these amazing family moments. Going to Disneyland, the movies amusement parks, road trips, and other cool things and felt like my family was boring. I felt this way because my family wasn’t going through their best moments. We were immigrants that had just recently migrated into the united states four years ago . My father wasn’t making much money, I had not had made friends or anyone I can communicate with. Too help me improve and work on my English. I was the oldest sibling and when one is the oldest sibling you are the first at everything. My parents did not know English they couldn’t read or write when I came home with homework, I struggled with something that would have been so easy to complete in 30 mins took me two or more hours to complete. My mother had bought a dictionary to translate the words from an assignment from English to Spanish. My mother would have spent hours every night trying to learn some English from these picture dictionaries. When I came home with this assignment, I was sad this was because I knew this assignment would take my whole night to write. My mother tried her best we looked up the words in the dictionary and found some words, The words couldn’t find in the dictionary my mother just combined English and Spanish. I felt we had written a great piece of writing. I was extremely happy with what I wrote. Learning English was never easy at any point in the journey. It took me a long time I was always getting yelled at and hit by my mom she lost her patience with me at times for spelling things wrong or losing focus. As an eight-year-old kid, all I wanted to do was play with their toys and go outside to play ball. After a long night of thinking about what I was going to write about I came up with the time, I went to my cousin’s house for Christmas. The next day at school we had writing time I tried to organize my writing but every time… I got stuck on how to express myself. I couldn’t write things; I would have asked this girl that sat next to me to help out with spelling words, she would have helped me but got irritated at times. I went home that day finished my work it was a long night looking through the dictionary and getting yelled at. Friday finally came around kids presented their work. They had cool stories to tell, their writing seemed great. My turn came around I started reading it was good since I had gotten help from my teacher the first few sentences. Once I got deeper into my writing piece, I had a lot of misspellings, and my sequence was all out of order. The kids made fun of me they thought my writing was ridiculous. They had said things like your dumb my baby sister can write way better than you!!. Even my teacher was upset, she was like you didn’t give it much effort. Did you even spend any time on your writing? Deep down knowing I had spent all night trying to write that writing piece getting yelled at. I was also mad at my mom because I had listened to her trying to help me with words that we had struggled translating or finding. After this happened for a while every time writing class came around, I felt so terrible. And this led to becoming shy, I felt like I didn’t belong there. When I sat in the middle of the classroom sometimes, I zoned off and my grades started decreasing. But ultimately my mother found ways for me to improve my reading and writing skills through fun activities. She also started taking me to the Saturday programs the school offered, to help improve my learning. This event shaped the way I looked at school for a while. I felt like I was not advancing in my learning, And I took it like my teachers didn’t know the way I was feeling. I believe a huge factor of this was because of my background coming from another country. I only spoke Spanish and the English my mother spoke was broken, I started picking it up the same way we spoke it at home. The interaction I had with American culture was different than what other kids in my class had. When a topic in school came up, it was not interesting to me, or had no idea what they were talking about, and this was because of the racial difference. But this helped me understand and learn that if I wanted to become a better writer or reader. I had to practice my reading and writing, I studied more consistently and learned to not be afraid of being judged. One learns to not let other people’s opinions get to you but to take them into consideration to help one grow with the difficulties one may face.
My Introduction get to know me
Hey hello, this is luis welcome to my profile, I consider myself a calm and chill person. I like to go on hikes enjoy nature and just escape from the city life, and those problems we have in our daily life. I am also really interested in trying new things and enjoying the small things in life. I am also currently working as an electrical apprentice I am fascinated with the electrical industry there is so much to learn. currently going for my bachelor’s in electrical engineering. I went to Ralph r McKee high school a great school in my opinion right near the Staten Island ferry. With amazing views of the NYC skyline of buildings and the blue water from far not up close. I am taking this class from my kitchen in my house on Staten Island. One word that describes how I am feeling about this course is scared. And this is because I am not the best with technology and a lot is going on the blackboard. One of my worries is that I may miss an assignment or something similar to that and this is because blackboard is a little confusing at times, I am not the best with technology.
The picture I chose was a lighting bolt and this is because I am currently an electrical apprentice. As an electrician, we are always working with electricity that resembles a lightning bolt. I love the trade and what it has taught me. There is always something to learn and so many different paths that one can take, and this is the reason this symbol means so much to me.
