- Sometimes people can recognize a time when their opinion of math dramatically changed either for the better or the worse. Tell us about it.
Extra Credit. Get to know your classmates! For extra credit, write a response to one of your classmates’ comments. Do you feel the same? Did you learn anything? Do you have any advice? Be kind.
Hello! I am Zakariyya but you all could call me Zak for short. I am an electrical engineering major. I chose this major because of the physics behind electricity and the paths it takes to power our everyday items. When it comes to school, I am most interested in music, history, and science (physics, chemistry, etc.). When I have free time, I enjoy watching things like basketball (Lebron is the GOAT argue with a wall), I like watching anime, and some of my favorites are Vinland Saga, Bleach, and One Piece. My favorite artist is Tory Lanez, but there is a close second and third with Daniel Caesar and Future.
Math has never been my favorite subject because I’ve always found it difficult to grasp, especially when it comes to complicated equations and formulas. No matter how much I practiced, it felt like the concepts just wouldn’t click the way they did in other subjects. The complexity of certain problems often left me feeling overwhelmed and frustrated, making it hard to stay motivated. While I can appreciate the importance of math and how it applies to the real world, it’s never been something I’ve enjoyed or felt confident in.
Hello Zakariyya,
My name is Muhammad and I am an out of state student at city tech. My major at City tech is Computer information systems and the reasoning for why I chose this major is because of the money that could be made with this major. I enjoy traveling and being with family a lot.
Math has never been my favorite subject besides from taking Geometry in my junior year of high school. I found it easy and my teacher was great. The main reason why math has never been my favorite subject is due to the teachers I’ve had. They weren’t the greatest and I would get stuck a lot. Although the teachers I’ve had weren’t the best, I’ve disliked math due to the challenges I face in the subject. I’m not the best with numbers and kept it in my mind that this subject isn’t for me.
Hello Muhammad,
Yeah, we’ve all had tough teachers. I’ll cop to hating all my junior and high school math teachers. I really didn’t learn math until college, and really I don’t have any other reason why this happened other than I made an honest effort to be better; and I helped create an environment that allowed other people to learn, so that my classmates could speak with me in terms I understood. I’ll admit, I can be pretty hit or miss with a lot of students, but as long as you make an effort and are willing to communicate with me, then I am here for you.
I can relate to you Muhammad. I also struggle with math and one of the reasons why is because I am not best with numbers. I don’t know why but I have always struggled with numbers.
Hello folks!
I’m Annie, an alumni of Pratt, BFA with a strong art background. So far I’m immersing into City Tech and it’s feels different but I love the fact that the location is near the two bridges. In a private college, everyone knows everyone’s familiar faces, we have artist talks and discussion of ideas and work. My first days at City Tech, knowing that it’s a commuter school, everything is own my own accord, the courses has its structure and practice. The reason for me to get a second degree at City Tech is that I am interested in the Radiologic Tech & Imaging program which I find it very similar to photographic work. I’ve have done studio photography and portraiture, and working in the traditional darkroom. It certainly feels magical watching silver prints turning black in the paper developing trays.
As much as I dislike to mention, math is my weakest subject as compared to English and Art. While practicing for the GMAT, those math questions were the hardest despite multiple choice questions causing one to think in circular perpetuity. There were questions that involved multiplying many fractions in their algebra and just too abstract for me to break down fractions 32 56/24 * 72/8 – etc…. I love the challenge yet there’s a migraine in finding solution for those problems. But for math enthusiasts, math can translate into motion and sound for physics and in design of 3D objects and architecture.
Hello Annie,
Some of my friends graduated from Pratt, but that was many, many years ago.
I will not lie that GMAT question looks… convoluted… I have had my fair share of headaches in doing math, but I’m here doing something I enjoy. I understand Radiology has its own society within City Tech. I hope you help create a similar environment here in this class to help you get better grades in this class, which is needed, since you’re going into Radiology.
Hi,
My name is Ispel, though you can call me by my middle name, Alexsandra, if you’re having difficulty pronouncing my first name. I am majoring in Industrial design here at City Tech. I chose this major because Industrial design has an intriguing history behind it, and I believe Industrial design most suits my personality. Four things I love are collecting adorable trinkets (Tamagotchi, Sanrio, Domo Kun, etc.), listening to music, reading books, and doing Fashion research.
Math was never my favorite subject because I struggled to understand most of the concepts, mainly Trigonometry. I also struggle with memorizing all these mathematical formulas and problem-solving methods. However, When I study on my own and watch math videos, I would understand what’s going on. It’s honestly a real struggle when taking a math exam. That’s where I forget the whole formulas and problem-solving methods. Although I love facing challenges, it can be frustrating trying to untangle all those problems.
I feel the exact same way when I studied for geometry because there’s nothing I could do that could make me understand the material unless it was watching a video. Something that helped me was finding a tutor because they helped me with understanding the material.
Hello Ispel,
You bring up a sore topic when it comes to mathematics for many students. I’ll admit that I used to be able to memorize nearly everything when it came to school. Memorization works for many students, but it doesn’t work for all students. For some, “mind-numbing” repetition helps fill in the blanks that memorization leaves. Sometimes, we need to see mathematical concepts in different ways to understand what is going on. While you’re in college, it is a good idea to try to figure out “how do I learn best?”
That being said, tests are always annoying, and there are many students who would admit to test anxiety. If you do, Counseling Services in N108 or Student Success Center in LG18R are excellent places to help you.
Hello. My name is Fuyin and my major is Ophthalmic Dispensing. The reason why I chose this major is because I want to be make a difference in people’s lives by improving their vision. I love traveling and listening to music. On my spare time, I would go out for walks or spend time with my family and friends.
Math was my favorite subject until high school because during the pandemic, it was hard to understand the materials that I was given. Math was interesting and somewhat easy until geometry. I never understood the triangles theorems. Before the pandemic, I wasn’t too frustrated to understand the material. In the recent years, it frustrates me a lot because of the complexity of math.
Hi Fuyin! It’s great that you chose Ophthalmic Dispensing. I can relate to how challenging math became during the pandemic; it’s tough when learning becomes harder without in-person support.
Hi Fuyin, it’s great to learn about your journey! Your passion for helping people with their vision is truly inspiring. I can definitely relate to how the pandemic made learning math more complicated. Online learning made it harder to grasp certain concepts, and I struggled too, especially since I had been out of practice for years. Geometry can be tricky, and those triangle theorems confused me as well! But I’ve realized that taking it one step at a time and practicing regularly helps a lot. I hope you find ways to enjoy math again, just like before. Wishing you all the best in your major. You’re on a path to making a real difference in people’s lives. All the best.
Hello Fuyin,
I have a very old friend who graduated from Ophthalmic Dispensing. Also, you’re my first student to come from that major.
Oof, pandemic learning… I hated it so much. I am of the belief that the pandemic hurt students’ mathematics comprehension the most. It’s been four years since we’ve returned to school, so I have to believe that eventually comprehension will return to pre-pandemic levels. That being said, it will take some work on everyone’s part.
My name is Easpita, and I’m majoring in Accounting. I chose this major because I was really excited about it, though I didn’t realize how challenging it would be. Outside of my studies, I have a passion for drawing, reading, art, and henna, but my biggest interest is cooking . I absolutely love it! I’m also a fan of horror movies and series, like All of Us Are Dead and Alive, as well as Hindi and Bangla films and short films.
1.Was math ever your favorite subject? If so, when was it? What about math made it your favorite subject? If math has never been your favorite subject, what about it do you not like?
As for math, it was my favorite subject when I was in 10th grade. I really enjoyed it because of my friendly teacher, who was very kind and made the subject enjoyable. However, I’ve never been fond of having to memorize formulas, which is one part of math I don’t particularly enjoy.
Hey Easpita, I also really enjoy cooking. I always make breakfast for my mom b4 she heads off to work whenever I don’t have school. I don’t really have a favorite type of cuisine tho.
Hi Easpita, I see many common things in you and me. I, love to cook and I’m found of art. Hope this class will let us know well and help each other to do better. In a free time we can share recipe of different cuisine and apply henna to one another.
Hello Easpita,
Horror movies scare me, so…
A good teacher always helps to make the learning experience easier. I would warn you that memorization is often not the best way to learn math. Some students can get away with it, but many others cannot. It isn’t enough to copy what I do because it’s what I may want from my students. We need reps also.
Hi Easpita!! Don’t be discouraged I have an older sister that is graduating this semester in accounting. Like you she struggled but it’s worth it in the end. She has mentioned that majoring in accounting was not like she expected. She thought it would be full of numbers but came to realize accounting is more of knowing polices and less of numbers.
Hello friends,
My name is Kusang Bhutia, this is my first semester in this college, and I’m still trying to adjust in this new environment, I’m excited about the journey ahead. My major is nursing, I chose this major because I love helping others, taking care of them which is why I feel this is the platform where I can fulfill my dreams. When I’m not focused on my studies, I enjoy creative activities like knitting and caring for my plants. These hobbies help me relax and express myself, allowing me to recharge during busy times. Although I’m still getting used to the new campus, I’m confident that over time, I’ll settle in and find my rhythm.
Math was never my favorite subject during my school days. In high school, I struggled a lot with it, often feeling confused by the steps in problems and making mistakes that led to lower grades. I didn’t spend enough time practicing or trying to fully understand the concepts, and that’s how I couldn’t score much in exams. Despite my struggles, I know that my difficulties in math were mainly due to not having the right approach back then. Now, I realize the importance of practice and patience, and I’m hoping that with more effort, I can improve my skills, and work on my progress.
Hello Kusang,
Nursing? My cousin graduated with from that department. I understand you need to do well to continue into the program.
It seems like you understand who you are as a learner and have a plan for what you need to do to pass this course (and even better, it doesn’t involve memorization!) Hopefully, this will help lead you to success in this class.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Evelyn Y Arroyo Saucedo. I’m majoring in Dental Hygiene. I chose this major because I want to be able to help those who need it, especially my family and my community. I seen my own people, even my father not ever go to a doctors or a dentist appointment because of lacking, or embarrassment. I want to provide something for everyone where they can feel comfortable and affordable.
Yes. I still remember the day when I finally understood math, It was different to me as a little kid. Ever since that day, growing up I was very good at math. So obviously it was one of my favorites. I liked the idea of being able to understand and solve a problem, it made me feel proud of myself. I also had very great teachers who were funny and helped me. But whenever test times came around, I always fumbled. I don’t know why I struggle whenever I take tests. I get so nervous all my knowledge leaves my head.
Hey Evelyn, I am the same way I am not a good test taker I will understand everything during class but when the time it comes to taking the test I forget stuff.
Hello Evelyn,
I feel the same when there’s an exam leading up. My mind gets nervous and all the stuff I’ve learned escapes into thin air. I haven’t done math in a long time, so hopefully this course is a refresher in efforts to mastering the subject for you.
Hello Evelyn,
Ha, I find it difficult to take my parents to the dentist also. Now, I hope my choice of Arizona can doesn’t offend the DH student in you. One student usually does make a comment about it.
Testing makes a lot of students fret. Often times, it is said tat “proper planning prevents poor performance” but even that is sometimes not enough. If it is a mindset issue, you can always go to the Counseling Services Center or the Student Success Center to see if they have any resources tat would help.
Hey! My name is Jair and I’m gonna be majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I chose my major because I’ve always been curious about machines and the way those giant, or little things work. Apart from being a student, I have a dog and a cat and I love them very much. I also enjoy playing Roblox a lot, if I’m not a school or work, I’m often online destroying obbys. I really only need 5 things in my life. Water, air, food, music, and Roblox.
1) Math was always my least favorite subject. Most times, I understand the topics really well, but then as soon as we move onto the next one, I forget everything I just learned. Maybe it’s a me problem, I’m not sure. But outside of that, I don’t HATE or LOVE the subject. I’m just…indifferent to it. Like, if I want a spicy chicken sandwich and they say “we only have regular.” I’ll say, “no I’m ok.” that’s how I feel about math.
Hello Jair,
You’re in Mechanical Engineering, but you’re indifferent towards math. That’s quite the conundrum because you need the math to understand the physics needed. Oh well, it’s good to remember that for the most part, math is built on top of itself. You need to know some material in order to understand the next topic and eventually that knowledge filters into your other classes.
Hello, My name is Deniss Martinez and my major is Radiology tech. This is my first year in City tech since transferring from a different collage and pursuing this major, I chose this major because its a fascinating field where science, medicine, and technology intersect , and using advanced equipment to help diagnose and treat patients without needing surgery. So I’ve decided I wanted to be in the field of Sonogram/ ultrasound Technician where you show families their growing baby.
A. Math isn’t mostly my favorite subject but can be a easier way to get threw topics in class, but if i had to say why math isn’t my favorite , it would be probably be becuase of how abstract and complex it can get at times in certain topics. But once you pass the basics , straightforward problems math can become less intuitive and more about memorizing rules and formulas that don’t always feel connected to everyday life. But on the other hand math can get easy at times and by following the formulas can lead to the right answer.
Welcome Deniss,
I understand that so many students have the same idea where math is about formulas and memorization. It works for a few, but it doesn’t work for others. Oftentimes, these shortcuts we learn are worth the time saved, but at the same time, they need to be done correctly at the right time; as the analogy goes, “it’s not the weapon. it’s the wielder”.
As a teacher, I don’t like just giving out formulas to students and leaving them on their merry way. I want to justify their existence in the hopes that our class uses them correctly. I hope this explains at least my teaching philosophy for you.
My name is Diandra, I am a transfer student, but my intended major is Radiologic Tech and Imaging. I choose this major because I find the challenge of diagnostics fascinating and I want to make a difference in people lives. I love listening to music and watching YouTube in my spare time.
For as long as I can remember math has always been my favorite subject even though it can be very challenging. Especially during high school my love for math grow even more because I guess it was the way how my math teacher taught it and how we could apply it to everyday life. Solving math problems requires focus and concentration, which helps keep your brain active and healthy.
Hello Diandra,
Favorite subject in school? Me too! 😀
Solving math problems every day helps keep my brain active and healthy? Well, I’ll admit to a 9×9 Ken Ken puzzle every day at least. It sounds like you’ve got a great, optimistic attitude toward mathematics. 😀
Hi Diadra!
I agree on the fact that my teachers played a very big part on why i enjoy math even when its hard. I believe the most important part about math is understanding why it exist and how whatever you’re doing at the moment applies to real life. I think the main reason why Ap calc was so challenging to me in highschool was because I couldn’t grasp what calculus really is in real life. I kept wondering “how exactly does this function equal acceleration, velocity and/or position”. My mind just couldn’t comprehend it so I felt like I was just following steps without truly understanding what these steps meant and why I was doing it or why it even worked. Though it was really challenging, every day I felt like I was improving my cognitive function because I actually had to try and understand something on a new level
Hi, I’m Pratik Gopa Bagchi, but most people call me Prats. I’m originally from Mumbai, India. I’ve worked in the Hindi film industry for over 22 years in different technical roles. I’ve been living and studying in the U.S. for the past five years. This is my second semester at CUNY, and I’m pursuing a Major in Entertainment Technology. One challenge for me has been math, mainly because I hadn’t practiced it in over 30 years. I’m putting in the effort to strengthen my basics and improve my grades so I can focus on the subjects I truly enjoy for my Major.
Dear Pratik,
I am impressed by your work experience in India and hopefully your math scores will improve this semester.
Dear Annie, Thank you… I really appreciate your kind words. I am trying and giving my best. Hopefully, I’ll make good progress. My best wishes for your studies, too.
2nd Paragraph:-
For most of my life, I struggled with math and never really enjoyed it. Since I had been out of practice for very, very long, I always thought it was too late for me to improve. However, when I started college again, I realized that math is more about logic and patterns rather than just numbers. With consistent practice, I slowly began understanding concepts that once seemed impossible. While I still find it challenging, my perspective has shifted—I no longer see math as an obstacle but as a skill that can be learned with patience and effort. This change in mindset has motivated me to keep pushing forward and aim for better results this semester.
Hello Pratik,
22 years in Entertainment and 30 years since you took math. Well, I’d tell you this is somewhat of a rare event, but we’re in City Tech, so it really isn’t uncommon. I’m glad that you see math as a matter of pattern recognition. How would we use the tools we have learned if we can’t identify the situations in which they might be used?
That’s a great point, Sir. Recognizing patterns in real-life situations helps us decide which math tools to use. But sometimes, even when I see a pattern, I struggle to connect it with the proper method. As a storyteller, I explore geopolitics, espionage, and crime mysteries—fields that also rely heavily on patterns and connecting dots. Just like in those subjects, understanding which tools to apply is crucial. However, how can I improve at identifying the right math tools for different situations?
Hi, my name is Sebastian Baday. I’m a Hispanic teen from Brooklyn, New York. I am the only boy in my family and have 4 sisters. Something that interests me is Architecture. I always love visiting the city and looking at the architecture in my home state. I believe it plays an important role in our lives and gives the city its beauty and welcoming feel. In my free time, I like to watch movie series with my family. My favorite series was Breaking Bad. I also like to draw characters from my imagination and sketch buildings I see in real life or online.
My favorite subject in school has always been math. I enjoy mathematics because it may seem challenging at first but once you understand the material it feels amazing to be able to solve any problem with ease. Another reason I love math is that all my math teachers have always been great. They always take time to review the material if I don’t understand it and also motivate me to never give up even when a task is challenging and I don’t have the energy to complete a task. I also believe math is a very important subject to learn since it is a universal language and is used in every aspect of life.
Hello Sebastian,
Oof… 4 sisters. I have a friend is the only brother with three sisters, and… yeah… “he’s lucky he’s the oldest”, he says.
It’s awesome that you’ve had great teachers to make math great for you. Also your statement about math being a universal language is true. I’ve seen quite a few presentations where there is a language barrier in addition to the presentation, but if the math makes sense, you can still make out what is going on.
Hi, my name is Brian Juarez this is my second year in city tech I’m majoring in architecture I chose architecture because I’ve been doing it since high school and always found it fun to do but also with the process of it does take a while getting to a final result but at the ends, it’s worth it. Outside of school, I usually do work, listen to music, go out to eat and try new places, like building Gundam and collecting figures also when I have time I just play valorant.
Math has sometimes been my favorite subject back in high school. I never really did well on tests, at some times it was easy to memorize the math that I learned but then I wouldn’t be able to. but math does play an important role in architecture so I would have to get used to memorizing solutions
Hello Brian,
I haven’t built a Gundam in decades…
It seems like so many architects are artists in their own right. Hopefully some of the math we learn this semester or in later semesters will inspire you in your future projects.
Hello, my name is Jocelyn. I am currently in my second semester at city tech and I am pursuing a major in radiologic technology. I chose this major because I found it interesting and I have an interest in science, especially when it comes to health and helping people. I enjoy cooking and baking when I am not busy and I enjoy going out with my family.
Math was never my favorite subject, I personally find it to be difficult at times. What I dislike the most is memorizing formulas. I am a bad test taker when it comes to math. During exams I tend to forget formulas and that adds to my frustration. I also feel like I had teachers that were not as engaging which made it less enjoyable.
Hello Jocelyn,
As I have told other students, I used to feel the same about memorizing formulas as an important tool for math education. But formulas are messy and without either practice or understanding the foundations, they are meaningless.
Test anxiety is a different story. You can attend the workshops Counseling Services in N108 or the Student Success Center in LG18R, or you can ask me for some help. But ultimately, it will still be up to you to resolve these testing issues.
Hi, my name is Wetspharlie Joseph; you can call me Pharlie. My major is Radiologic technician. I’m from Haiti; I speak French, Haitian Creole, and English. I love Hip-Hop music, and my favorite rappers are Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. I love reading drama books; my favorite show is The Vampire Diaries. In my spare time, I love to cook and clean the house.
Math was my favorite subject in high school. I like math because we use it in our everyday lives, for example, in finance. I love math because we can use it in the real world and in career opportunities. My teacher in high school was great; he explained everything and made math fun. But ever since I started college, I haven’t been great at math like in high school, and I hope I pass this class.
Hey, Pharlie It is a pleasure to meet you! Speaking various languages is fantastic, and radiologic technology looks like an interesting field. Cardi B and Nicki Minaj undoubtedly inject excitement into the hip-hop scene, which is a very expressive music.I completely get why math was fun in high school, particularly when it seemed like it had useful, real-world applications. It’s fantastic that you saw its value, like in the case of finance. It makes sense that moving to college-level math might feel more difficult, but you have the abilities to succeed, and your upbeat outlook will undoubtedly help!
Hello Westpharlie,
I’m glad that you are in the Rad Tech program here in City Tech. The students have created their own little learning community within City Tech and I hope you and your fellow Rad Tech colleagues bring some of that camaraderie into this class. This is to help each of you in this class and perhaps set an example for others.
Hooray, a positive attitude toward mathematics. Yes, a good educator makes learning math fun, but you’re right, a new environment changes everything. You’re navigating new social norms and professional requirements in addition to learning. Hopefully, after a semester of acclimation, you know what you’re “supposed to do” in City Tech and be able to dedicate more resources to passing this class this semester with that necessary “high grade”.
Hello, I’m Schnaica, but anyone can call me Naica. I speak Haitian Creole and English, I enjoy going to the gym, I have three siblings, and I love watching dramas, especially Chinese dramas, and listening to music in my free time. I am majoring in radio technology. I’m a laid-back individual who is also an introvert, and I enjoy touring the world.
I’ve always found mathematics to be fascinating! I find it rewarding since it is structured, rational, and provides clear solutions. I think that solving problems and discovering patterns in arithmetic, like algebra or geometry, was my favorite part of math. Decomposing difficult issues into smaller, more manageable components has a certain satisfying quality. I completely see, though, why some people would not find math enjoyable. It may seem abstract or hard for some people to relate to situations in real life.
Hello Schnaica,
An introvert, but you love to travel the world… me? Very introverted, but I hate travel. You will not see me on an airplane. Why bother traveling, when everything I could want is within 45 minutes already, I say? But I digress…
A positive attitude about mathematics goes a long way to success in the class. While I also see why math isn’t enjoyable for some, I choose to not let the other haters’ opinions interfere with my love of the subject. I hope their doubts don’t creep into your mind this semester.
Hi my name is Chaise, you can all call me Chaise or Cass. My major is compulter science. I enjoy playing video games music and playing card games. I choose my major because in highschool i was put into a computer science course and i was pretty good at the work. My favorite series has to be Dynasty.
Math has always been one of my favorite subject until i got to geo/Trig. Not because i find the math diffcult to do i struggle to remember all the steps to solve the equations. Also i put in a weird situtation where i didnt take Trig in highschool. So my first intro to the course was in College last semester.
Hello Chaise,
Dynasty? That old 80s show with all the slapping going on? No way…
I would inform you that we will definitely be doing quite a bit of coordinate plane geometry this semester in addition to stepping into some trigonometry. With the new curriculum, there is far less trigonometry than I’d like, but I hope to make this knowledge easier to digest this semester.
Also, I’m personally not a fan of thinking of math in terms of “steps”. Under most scenarios, though, I’d like to discover the steps instead of just giving them to the students.
Hi, My name is Odalis Garcia-Tzul. The way you pronounce my name is O-Dallas. My pronouns are she/her. I am a first generation American of Guatemalan decent. I speak English, Spanish, and a little of Quiche (Guatemalan Dialect). This is my second semester here at CityTech and I am majoring in Nursing. I chose to major in nursing because I have an interest in science and how the human body functions and I enjoy helping people. When I finally have my license I would like to work in a pediatric clinic.
For the second paragraph I have decided to answer prompt one. Math has never been my favorite subject. I have always struggled when it came to taking math classes. In high school math was manageable but the moment I entered my first college level math class I fell behind and struggled. I think what makes math difficult for me is that there is a never ending of numbers and outcomes/answers to questions. Unlike science that has foundational facts math will always have a different answer for a different question and not be similar. Another reason why I can find math difficult is when there are so many formulas I can’t differentiate when or what formula is appropriate for a math question.
Hello Odalis,
My cousin graduated from the City Tech Nursing program. It was hard work, but it was worth it.
I’ll have to disagree with you on the idea that math and science are dissimilar. Math is the language of science, and all physical science requires some understanding of mathematics. Math is about understanding and using tools in problem solving. At least to me, it is. I like to experiment with numbers. It makes math fun (for me, at least)
Hi, My name is Xavier, I enjoy music a lot. Im a computer engineering major and I chose this because I’m interested in computers and wanted to also be a little more hands on. in my spare time im either, making music, listening to music, watching a video about music, or at work thinking about music. Probably going to change my major though I think I can succeed in a much better field.
Math has always been my favorite subject except for 11th grade due to me having a very interesting history class. I like math because it has set rules. Unlike many other subjects, Math is right and wrong. There are no morals no half right half wrong or none of that. even though that does mean that mistakes are crucial, I personally prefer this structure it just takes practice. I believe that math gets harder the more you dont do it.
