It is challenging becoming apart of a new environment at first, however I know that it is possible. While preparing to become a college student I have made sure that I get a better understanding on how to arrive at City Tech. The first two times that I came were with my mom. However during this workshop I have made it my mission to come alone and figure out the best possible routes for me. I tried getting off the train at different exits to find out which ones I would determine to work out for me. I will also be going to the orientation that is coming up, and make an attempt to try and see where my classes will be heled while there. I have made sure that I have materials that I know are always useful such as: my laptop, notebooks, pens, and pencils. This way I feel prepared for when college officially starts. When college does start and I am officially on my own I will be sure to stay focused. I will make sure to look through the syllabus of all my classes to know what to expect. As I get the hang of things I will also be building friendship and become part of clubs that I find interest in.
It’s great that you’re taking such a proactive approach to preparing for college. Figuring out your commute, attending orientation, and gathering essential materials are all smart steps to help you feel ready. Your plan to stay focused and review your syllabi will definitely set you up for success. As you get comfortable, joining clubs and building friendships will help you feel even more connected at City Tech. You’re well on your way to making a smooth transition!
I’m preparing for my time at CUNY City Tech by making myself known to people and socializing more than I normally would when I meet new people. I’m also decluttering any spam emails I get from other colleges. I feel pretty confident that I will feel comfortable to find a group of peers that I feel comfortable around and belong with. Putting myself out there and being more socially active. It will not only enhance my overall college experience but also provide me with a support system and a network of friends.
You’re taking great steps to prepare for your time at City Tech! By actively socializing and decluttering your inbox, you’re setting yourself up for a more focused and connected college experience. Putting yourself out there and being more socially active will definitely help you build a strong support system and a network of friends. It sounds like you’re ready to make the most of your college journey!
I’m preparing myself at CityTech by making some jokes at the place- to make some memories to look back on in the future. I know with time we’ll make something great in spite of the week we’ll be bogged down with.
That’s a great way to approach things! Making jokes and creating memories can really help you connect with others and make your time at City Tech more enjoyable. Even during challenging weeks, those lighthearted moments can keep you going. You’re setting yourself up for a memorable college experience!
I am preparing to become a City Tech student by making sure that I am able to find resources available to me on campus and by forming relationships in any social event that I may take apart in. Although college life can be an intimidating transfer I am making sure I am confident with all aspects such as class locations, student aid and social clubs available at the school. I will take apart in some social clubs in order to feel more apart of the community and be able to open new opportunities by forming new connections and relationships through these social clubs and events. I also will visit all my classrooms previously on orientation day in order to get a feeling of how long the commute to each class will take and time management to ensure success. Also I am preparing for my time at City Tech by trying to self advocate more for myself as I would need to use this skill in college when communicating with my professors and peers at City Tech. Finally I am finding activities that are present at City Tech to make these next four years feel more enjoyable and productive also in hopes to make more relationships.
You’re taking a thorough and thoughtful approach to preparing for your time at City Tech. By familiarizing yourself with campus resources, forming relationships at social events, and planning your class routes, you’re setting yourself up for a smooth transition. Engaging in social clubs will help you feel more connected to the community, and practicing self-advocacy will be invaluable for navigating college life. It’s clear you’re focused on making your college experience both enjoyable and productive, and that’s a great mindset to have!
As A First Year Student I am not super worried about this upcoming school year neither am I nervous because in my highschool they offered early college programs so I feel like ultimately I am prepared and confident in whats going to happen this coming school year. The only thing Id like to do is just learn the campus so that I am better prepared for the school year (learn the ins and outs, explore different buildings, get to view the campus as a whole).
It’s great that your early HS experience has helped you feel prepared and confident for the upcoming school year! Focusing on learning the campus and exploring different buildings is a smart move—it’ll help you feel even more at ease when classes start. You’re on the right track to making the most of your first year at City Tech!
I was preparing myself by reading my emails to know events or workshops Im able to join so that I can learn more about the college. I tried finding some info on my own so that I could have an idea what it would be like but I couldn’t find much about my major and things that happen in the college. I also tired looking at the website it was helpful but not as much as I thought it would be since I didn’t know what some of the information on the page was for. I was only able to find out about the how students are able to get their teeth cleaned for free or something like that on Reddit since I wanted to know a students experience in the college. Then I thought why not sign up for something that’s going on in the college so that I at least know how it feels like to be there. When I saw the email for the workshop I thought this is exactly what I have been looking for, because of that I feel way more prepared for my next steps now that I know what I am not going in blind. Not only that I meet people that I am able to talk to. So at least I know more people now, then before the workshop.
You’ve taken a proactive approach by reading emails and trying to gather as much information as possible about City Tech. Signing up for the workshop was a smart move—it’s given you a feel for the college environment and connected you with new people. Now that you have a better sense of what to expect, you’re more prepared and ready to start your journey at City Tech!

Im preparing to be a City Tech student by gaining familiarity to the building and making new friends. The City Tech tour helped me a lot because I was able to go to buildings I wouldn’t have access to yet like the Rad Tech floor. Also the workshop helped me meet new people like others who are interested in the Rad Tech program and it thought me about the many resources City Tech provides for their student’s. And about the importance of knowing these tools and actually using them.
You’re doing a great job preparing by familiarizing yourself with the campus and making new friends. The City Tech tour and workshop seem to have been really beneficial, giving you access to key areas and connecting you with others interested in the Rad Tech program. Understanding the resources available to you and knowing how to use them will definitely give you an edge as you start your journey at City Tech!
I am preparing to be a City Tech student by showing up to different workshops and events so that I can familiarize myself with the environment and the people who will be attending college with me. I decided to do this workshop to get more familiarized with my college and it was a great opportunity that taught me a lot about my school and I met really interesting people. I also attended the open house a couple of months ago and did a tour of the campus. I plan to continue to prepare by attending orientation next week and later in the fall, joining clubs, and engaging myself in City Tech events.

I’m quite confident that I’ll find a group of peers where I feel comfortable and truly belong. Another way I’m preparing to get ready is by being more disciplined. One way I do this is by cutting screen time before I have classes, practicing subjects that I will do in the future, and creating good habits beforehand.

I am getting ready to become a city tech student by attending the orientation coming up as well as the workshop that i attended this week so i can have a sense of knowledge now about the campus such as the tour i took yesterday. As well as checking my emails to make sure i am on track and nothing is missing. I have all my supplies ready for august 28 and I feel like this workshop greatly made me more prepared on starting college. Even tho im aware that this is a whole new chapter in my life, i still make sure to do the most to be prepared.
You’re doing great! Attending orientation, workshops, and prepping ahead will make a big difference. Stay on top of things, and remember it’s okay to feel nervous. Keep that enthusiasm, and you’ll crush it at City Tech! Good luck!
I’m preparing myself for my first year by trying to give myself more grace with things. I not good with adapting to change and often get stressed easily so I’m trying to remind myself that it’s okay and that this isn’t something I should avoid but face head on. I think this transition might be a little hard for me at first but I’m sure that once I get use to it I’ll be okay. I talk to and become more comfortable with people to help ease the stress of my transition a little. I don’t know much about what its actually like to be in college so the best I can do is try not to stress much and remember that there are resources for me if needed.
You’re taking a great approach! Remember, it’s okay to feel stressed, and adapting to change takes time. Connect with others, ask questions, and utilize resources when needed. Keep a positive mindset, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support. You got this!
it started at a rough start. i had a bunch of different little stopping point, like mistakes with applications, sign in up, and schedules, and just everything in general. happy thought that everything is better now.
Don’t worry about the rough start! We’ve all been there. Now, focus on crushing your goals at City Tech. Good luck! It was great chatting with you!
I’m preparing myself Physically and mentally for my first semester at city tech and hopefully more to come. By having a clear mindset and having the goal to maintain good grades, but of course I can’t do that alone. City tech has a lot of different departments you can go to if you need assistance and you don’t have to hesitate to ask for help. Im not the type person to go up and ask for help but here at city tech you are more then welcome to speak to anyone
It was great having you in class! You’re already on the right track by preparing yourself physically and mentally for this new chapter. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. City Tech’s resources are here for you, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Good luck on your City Tech journey!
