My necklace is very important to me because it was given to me by people I love. My aunt from Canada gave me the necklace 5 years ago, and ever since then, I have worn it everyday. The only time that I would take off my necklace is when I wear another necklace to match my outfit or when I have to go out somewhere really fancy. Having my necklace on reminds me that I will always have my family with me no matter how far they are. Speaking about distance, I also have 2 pendants that were given to me by my aunts that live in Canada and Guyana. The first pendant is the letter S which represents the first letter of my name and the second pendant has another S but it also has the Om sign, which is the symbol of my religion. Even though I barely see my family in Guyana and Canada, my necklace makes me feel like they are still close to me no matter how far they live or where I am.

Everyday when my mom talks about how my uncle was a successful at his job, I always go into my room and take out the gold plated vintage Rolex watch that he left to me as a present when I flew to USA. He said to me, “That’s a present to you from me.  Every time you look at the watch, always remember me.”

Unfortunately my uncle got hit by a car. It happened back in my country Tashkent, Uzbekistan around summer of 2010. It was devastating news for our family. So every time I look at the watch, it reminds me of him.

My glasses are a really important essential to my everyday life. I’ve had this particular pair of glasses for 3 months, and I cherish every day with day with them. The three weeks I didn’t have glasses in the summer were by far the worst ever. I didn’t feel like myself because I had to struggle to see, and I always felt a second slower then usual. I hated the moments when my friends would say, “Hey Munir, did you see that?” And I’d sit there squinting, trying see what they saw. I’d also be squinting just to hear what someone would have to say. Those three weeks is when I realized how much my glasses play vital role to my life.

This is how I discovered the best hairstyle in my life. One day I was walking in Arden Street, and I saw a person with a great haircut.  I asked him where he got his haircut, and he told me between Dyckman and Sherman Street. The name of Barber Shop is René Barbershop. I have been going to the same barbershop for 3 years and getting the same haircut.

My hairstyle is so important to me because I feel so comfortable, and all my family and my girlfriend told me that I look so beautiful with that haircut and that motivates me to keep the same hairstyle.

My bike is very important to me, it brings me everywhere I want to go, such as school, friends houses, and parks to ride with my friends no matter the location. The thing I love about cycling is the speed and the feeling in my chest of excitement, the tranquility it brings to my mind, and the burn in my legs. the feeling of making sharp turns and being almost parallel to the asphalt, the speed going down large hills and bridges, and the struggle and the burn in my body climbing those hills and bridges. For me cycling is pure bliss and a very vital part of my life.

An item that has a very special meaning to me is my engagement ring. This ring means a lot to me because it demonstrates the love between my fiancé and I. Everything about this ring is special especially the proposal. Ever since the first date I knew he was the one, there was something about his honey brown eyes that made me feel at ease. You know true love when you see it, and I believe that what we have is true love.  We’ve known each other for a very long time now and we decided to make things official. Ive been engaged for about a month now and this month has been filled with so many beautiful memories. This ring has more than one meaning to me, it not only symbolizes love but it also symbolizes commitment. Commitment is immensely important in a relationship especially when you’re engaged you’re devoted to that one person. You vow to love that person unconditionally and to make them extremely happy. This is what my rings symbolizes and I wear it all the time to show that i’m happily engaged and committed to my fiancé. My ring has three diamonds which represent the past, present and future those words are also engraved on the inside of the ring. This ring is a symbol of love and commitment between my fiancé and I.

To me body building has been my foundation for the past 10 years. The gym is the one place that I can walk into with confidence knowing that I am great at something. I love bodybuilding because no matter where I go, people know that I am dedicated, have good work ethic and that I am good at what I do. Unlike other sports or hobbies I don’t have to brag or boast about my talent. My existence alone speaks volumes about my accomplishments. Bodybuilding has even been detrimental to my success as a Soldier in the United States Army and New York National Guard. Friends and relationships may come and go, but 200 lbs is always 200 lbs.

My keys and key chain brings back old memories. It shows my childhood, my first time to many things, and how much I have grown ever since. The first time I acquired my keys were during a trip when I was a 5th grader. At around 6 p.m., I got off a trip and was allowed to walk home by myself for the first time. My parents were rarely home during the evening. The keys were the first item that my parents trusted me with. It makes me realize that my parents entrusted me with some responsibility and shows how much I’ve been growing. My keychain resembles my friendship with a childhood friend I have. We still keep in contact and we check up on each other once in a while.
