We learned how to shoot cover shots for different magazine. Using Photoshop, we adjusted the logo and photo for each magazine we were advertising.

The focus for this assignment was how to take photos at night. The picture often looks grainy and dark at night and so this required as much light to come in as possible without losing  focus on the subject and a high ISO.

We learned about studio lighting use for outdoors and used ambient light. We used am external light and umbrella to mimic soft light and experimented with the exposure and make the background underexposed so the subject could be well lit.

My experience at the exhibit at NYU was interesting as I was able to see the works from other students. I was inspired by many of the photographs that I have seen. There were few that were my favorites and others that I felt missed a mark in becoming a really great picture. One of the pictures that I liked was by Kayla Beltran and it looks like a self portrait of the subject. What I liked about it is that the subject is standing in front of a mirror and the photographer caught her reflection instead of taking a straight forward picture. The use of diagonal lines in this picture creates movement and the overall composition looks like a story is being told.

There was another photo that caught my attention but I feel as though the photographer did a poor job on it. The picture with the man in a yellow coat, cowboy hat and a shotgun in his hands is my least favorite. The photographer did not use the rule of thirds in the picture. There is no sense of contrast and there are no lines leading anywhere in the photo so it doesn’t give the photo motion or any depth. I also think that the picture is too warm and the clouds seem overexposed and makes it look unnatural. If these things were changed then the photo would look better.

for this assignment I used a 50mm lens and had my apetrure at f7 and shutter speed 200 to get a real classic clean portrait photo after that we uploaded the photos into Lightroom to touch up a little. the effects were created in photoshop by drawing and image in and masking it and playing with color over lat and opacity.

in our class today our  assignment was to shoot around the school and take some  photos lighting seemed to be our base of topic me and my partner scour the halls searching good places to take pictures with nice temperature and lighting.  I didn’t really change anything in these photos with light room because I like them as is looking natural.

Today we worked on light painting to get a light paint image you have to basically have a low iso. Maybe something around 100, an aperture level about f10-14 and shutter speed has to be long about 10 seconds
