Final Project Overview

The story I’m using for my Final Project is the Tortoise and the Hare story. Since a tortoise and a rabbit is hard to come by these days I’m going to have actors dressed up to represent both animals. The shots will include the initial challenge starting, the race itself, the hare stopping mid race to nap while the tortoise passes them and the tortoise claiming victory in the end.

Light Painting

Today in class we dedicated the shoot time to do light painting during long exposure shots. When it came to using the strobe , it was sometimes difficult to calculate where to expose the person at. Second, writing things was pretty complicated as well due to the fact that you have to write everything backwards. Overall a pretty fun experience although there was minor complication

Portrait Lighting 2

  • 3 Point with Background Light

  • Butterfly Light

  • 3 Point with Hair Light

  • Edge Lighting

In today’s class which I was kinda late to, we learned how to take portraits with different lighting setups. Some created deep shadows and other created really interesting points of light. Overall, it was a pretty cool experience to play around with different setups and would definitely do it over again.

High Key/Low Key Lighting

This assignment focused on trying to emulate high key and low key lighting. I had a lot of trouble figuring out where my camera settings had to be at so these pictures were taken with random settings. I enjoyed taking photos of the third set up the most because I loved how dramatic the picture was coming out. I took all of these pictures freehand without use of the tripod.

Highkey vs Lowkey

Today in class we learned the difference between Highkey light and lowkey light. One of the major differences about these two types of photography strategies are the difference between light and shadow. A dark image will leave you with a simple out and a highkey picture will leave you with a bright image with shadows that arent too bright.

Homework #3 – Visit Photoville

I own none of these photos I just took the for a class homework project. These photos belong to their own owners from Photoville.

This is from a container exhibition called Perspectives. I like this photo because there is a break in the pattern by this pale boy.

These are from a container exhibition called Jalila: Surviving war and famine in Yemen, by Nariman El-Mofty. It’s about survivors of Yemen and about their struggles in a war that has “raged since 2015.”

LL1 # shadow and lights

In class, we did a shooting workshop in Dumbo. Since our class is around evening it was hard to take pictures of lights and shadow. Also, it was kind of challenging for me as I’m not used to of shooting in low light or at night. But with the help of Professor and what I learned in class, I was able to capture some images. These are the images where I tried to show lights and shadow.
