Posting and upcoming deadline reminder

By midnight tonight you need to post a progress set of your project that includes your Revit file and a PDF of your current sheets.  Your work will be reviewed tomorrow with one-on-one desk crits.  This will be marked as a complete/incomplete progress grade.  This work should be as complete as possible – the more you show the input will be provided.

This is the last chance for detailed review prior to an important progress letter grade.

Next Monday the 15th, we will have a graded pinup of both your Architectural and Structural Drawings.  All work is to be plotted on 11 x 17 sheets.  You will receive two separate grades – one for the plotted sheets and a second grade for review of your Revit file which will look to see how well organized you are.

  • Cover Sheet – includes 3d image of building and drawings list
  • Structural Set – includes plans and sections (2 minimum)
    • Show structural grids & levels, dimensions and all structural elements including foundation
  • Architectural Set – Includes plans, exterior building elevations & building sections (2 minimum)
    • Show structural grids & levels, dimensions and architectural elements
    • Exterior elevations show the exterior wall and windows but things below grade including foundations.  Include grids and levels.
    • Building elevations will include foundations. Include grids and levels.

For Wednesday’s Class and Tuesday evenings posting

By now you should all have your grids and levels well worked out with an exterior wall placed for location.  The exterior wall will get modified as we move forward.

Our next step is to add some structural elements.  This includes foundation walls and footings, columns and isolated footings, beams etc.  For next class look to add the following to  your revit files.

  • structural columns (level 1 – level 2 as steel columns)
  • structural columns (basement to level 1)
    • Add isolated concrete footings
  • Foundation wall (level 1 down to basement)
    • Add foundation wall footing
  • Test out your sheet layout again – does your building still fit?
