Design Without Borders: Visual Communication Beyond Language – ES

Brief Overview

I want to explore how graphic design can help people understand each other when they don’t speak the same language. In cities like New York, where so many cultures and languages mix, clear visual design is really important, especially in public places. I’m curious to see how things like signs or icons can help break language barriers and make communication easier for everyone.

Hi Eugene Song, your presentation was really enjoyable. Incorporating the MTA Courtesy Posters, NYPD Posters, and Semiotics & Theory really helped me grasp a clear understanding of what message you were trying to illustrate. After watching your presentation, I do believe graphic design in public spaces transcend language barriers and create a shared understanding between everyone. I can definitely see myself paying more attention to these designs throughout my day.

    Hi Eugene,

I also enjoyed your presentation and how you were able to connect the concept of graphic design in public spaces such as signage/wayfinding that are able to transcend the language barriers people can face.
