Nursing Philosophy

Nursing is more than just curing, caring and educating. Nursing is a friendship which requires patience, listening and most of all love. Nursing does not judge the color of your skin or the choice in your orientation. Nursing accepts, respects, and tolerates those who hold different values. I pursue Jean Watson’s nursing philosophy where there is more emphasis on the patient holistically. Her Ten Carative theory helps nurse care for the patient as a whole person spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically. I believe that not one person is the same as the next. Everyone is unique and require different care plans and approaches. I believe that in order to understand others we must first reach within ourselves and learn our own biases. It is very important to practice and utilize these characteristics to build a relationship with our patients. To maintain their trust is the most important of them all. Without trust a relationship will never bloom.
