Course Description:

Work experience with a company in the fashion industry,  related to the student’s interest area. Students apply formal education to professional situations to ease the transition into the work environment. 

Students keep a journal of their work, submit written analyses, and meet periodically to  discuss their experiences. Coursework is completed with the completion of a 120 hr  approved internship and a Professional Micro-Credential Badge in Brightspace Course

As an Intern at Victoria’s Secret 5th Ave:

During a morning floor set for Dream Angels collection, I was assigned to rearrange face out displays for new wireless push-up bra that launched to the store. In here I learned to guide myself with the store map guidelines. I analyzed the standard of color, styles and format of the walls and furniture arrangements. As practice, I adapted taking initiative while working independently and as a team. I learned to get into the habit of monitoring around the store and observing my team’s performance plus keeping an eye out on opportunities that need to be met. It was also one of the first mornings for myself to assign roles for the opening team using my best judgement based on each associates skills. Overall, the whole floor set project went well but I recognized that I should have demonstrated urgency since we are on a time limit before opening to the public.

I demonstrated a selling associate a map of the floor set up after teaming up with myself for a project in the store’s second floor. I was trained to guide and teach individual associates to understand product placement and standards. It is important to know why presentation matters as it is a major contribution to drive sales. Highlighting high traffic zones is the key to know what products should displayed. The Very Sexy collection is one of the store’s top selling collections and it is placed on the second floor of the store. It is located at the second’s floor centered areas of traffic. Reason to that is because the second floor usually is low on traffic which affects conversion and in order to possibly increase conversion is by this collection’s relocation. The relocation of the Very Sexy collection will help improve sales on the second floor since majority of the customers shop from the collection. Once they follow it it will also lead for customers to look around and will get attracted to other products from different collections.

I trained a new hire how to measure for bra size. Step by step I guided her through ice breaking points in order to build a connection. Through connections it leads to building customer satisfaction and loyalty.

I was evaluated by my manager, Vanessa, while she observed my leadership performance with the associates and applied feedback on how I can improve on confidence and more trust of my self performance without getting nervous and fear of rejection or failure. Overall, she enjoyed the positive attitude and behavior towards myself coaching the associates.
