Homework Clarification

I want to clear things up about the homework in this class. I know there is some confusion:

  1. WeBWorK. Click here to access. These problems are done entirely on the website. You do not need to upload or show me the work. Pay attention to the date and time each set closes. You must do the problems before then to receive credit.
  2. OpenLab Assignments. These will get posted on this site periodically. The assignments are designed to enhance your knowledge of key concepts. In order to turn it in, you must upload it to our shared dropbox folder. Directions to upload and rename are here. If you do not follow the directions, the assignment will not be accepted. You can see your grade for each assignment in the comment section of that particular file. Find openlab assignments here.
  3. Workbook Homework. These are a set of questions from the workbook. You can find the assignments in the “Workbook HW” column of the schedule. Upload the work to dropbox and rename it using:

lastname firstinitial date workbook#.#.pdf

examples: brunsonj 02/08 workbook1.4.pdf

hartj 02/09 workbook2.4.pdf

anunobyo 02/13 workbook3.4.pdf

Help on Factoring

Several of you expressed interest in getting better at factoring. We will be doing it in class, but we will not have a lesson that explicitly covers it, so it’s in your best interest to get some practice outside of class. Here are some links.

I hope this helps. Thank you to those who came to me to ask for this. I appreciate you speaking to me!

OpenLab Assignment #1: Upload a 3-page PDF File to Dropbox

Practice uploading a PDF document to Dropbox. This assignment is due Thursday, February 1, 2024.

  • First page: Answer these questions on a piece of paper. Handwrite your answers. You’ll see why later.
  • Second Page: Answer these questions on this worksheet. If you are having trouble with factoring, check out the videos here. You do not have to print it out. You can provide the solutions on a separate piece of paper. Do your best on this!
  • Third page: A doodle! I miss seeing all of the drawings my students put on their quizzes! This drawing can be as detailed or as simple as you like, just make sure it’s lighthearted and fun!
  • Scan a 3-page PDF. Follow these instructions. Your assignment won’t be accepted if it is not uploaded correctly. Rename the file using this scheme:
    • lastname firstinitial date assignment.pdf
    • Use 2 digits for the month and day. August 27 is 08-27 and September 8 is 09-08.
    • Example: If Darth Vader submits his file on March 5 he will name it VaderD03-05drawing.pdf
    • Upload the file to our shared Dropbox folder. Do NOT email me asking if I received the file. Instead, use the comment feature in Dropbox to ask, and I will reply if I received it. Assume I do not see the file if I do not reply.
    • Instructions on using Dropbox can be found here, or here.
    • This assignment is due Thursday, February 1, at the start of class.
    • Name your file: lastname firstinitial 0201 Assignment01.pdf
