An organization I found quite interesting and a path I would like to head in when it comes to designing is the Africobra Collection. Founded in 1968, artists celebrated identity, pride, and resistance, distinctly developed towards a black aesthetic. They created for black people and were solely crafted by black people. They believed that art should be inspirational and functional. They developed a visual language defined by vibrant colors, Freehand text, rhythmic compositions, and the truth of everyday black life. From the examples posted, you see the creativity behind each image. Thrown at you, but in a way that your vision has to shape the image to see. I’m drawn to this aesthetic because of the emotions the images provide. It seems busy, but it’s busy with meaning. Their use of colors, words, and patterns draws the viewer to look at the whole picture plus appreciate every detail, which I would like for my work to be visualized as.

This is great. You would have liked to see the Alvin Ailey exhibit at the Whitney. It was fabulous. Some of the artists you reference were in that show as artists who influenced Alvin Ailey. I wish that show ran longer. I went to see it 3 times.
