Workshops

I have become dedicated to teaching careful observation in all my teaching as I see it as a research supported skill leading to self-directed learning and deeper, meaningful learning. My efforts have been recognized by the college, resulting in the develop of the two workshops below developed and offered through the City Tech Faculty Commons.

Prof. Julia Jordan and I developed this workshop as part of the City Tech GenEdge Pedagogy & Practice series. This workshop, run twice with separate groups of faculty, focused on the role of careful observation in education. Approximately 15 faculty attended the workshop.

Profs. Julia Jordan, Susan Phillip, and I developed a Place-based Teaching and Learning workshop that was held on June 1, 2016. This workshop provided faculty developing Learning Communities with the support to develop a place-based learning activity in their courses.
