During my internship, I have adhered to professional design ethics, ensuring respect for the industry. As stated in AIGA Busines_Ethics 47556721-Client-s-guide-to-design, professional designers are expected to uphold high standards.
At the boutique, the company’s logo is a crucial element used in all design aspects, but it has evolved over time. I have worked with these variations, ensuring consistency in branding while integrating photography into my designs. Currently, there is no official style guide, which can make it challenging to maintain uniformity.
AIGA Business Ethics 47556770 – Use of Photography states that utilizing photos in design work involves responsibility and choice. While commissioning photos specifically for a project is ideal, the rise of digital image banks has made stock photography more accessible to designers.
At my internship, we primarily use original photography taken for the boutique, incorporating the community into our visuals. This approach allows us creative freedom, as we capture our own images of the products to promote them, reducing our reliance on stock photography. I find this to be a fantastic practice because it ensures authenticity and brand consistency. However, we do selectively use certain images to highlight exclusive promotions when needed.
