Fall 2022 Finished Culmination Project

Tales from the Mist: Azorus

For this project, I created a mockup of what the intro experience to my game concept would look like. I endeavored to create a Nonlinear, Choose-Your-Own-Adventure, Text-Based game with a twist! I attempted to create what I referred to as a “High Fidelity” Text-Based Game, as I did wish to include few, but meaningful visuals into the experience. Due to time constraints, I did not manage to add as many bells and whistles as I would’ve hoped, but am quite satisfied with the end result nonetheless. To go the extra mile on this assignment, I also attempted to implement full voice acting for the characters featured in the game, something I have never attempted before in any personal or scholastic project.
Throughout my time at Citytech pursuing Game Design, I have learned that I appreciate what goes into the design elements more than the game part, which is why I created a video mockup of gameplay rather than burdening myself with programming anything. I cared much more for the look, feel, and pacing of everything than worrying about any clunky mechanical stuff. Due to time constraints, I wasn’t able to include many of the alternate routes that would normally be present in a nonlinear game, since also having to voice-act them would’ve significantly increased the time it took to do that. The video follows one narrative path, although some alternate choices are shown in the video.Ultimately, I can say with certainty that I created something myself and the cast are really proud of and excited for! I hope you feel the same.
I must note, strong language is present within the project, but not overly so. There are quite a few lines where certain more “crude” characters throw around curses, but I do not believe it is gratuitously used.

Song Cover Reimagining

Song Cover Reimagined

For this project we had to redesign a song/album/book cover. I chose a song I’ve recently been listening to called Rocketeer by Far East Movement. This is my interpretation of the music video and the lyrics of the song.

Unrealistic Scene Project

A snowy landscape with a phoenix chasing some surfers

This project was about creating a scene that didn’t quite make sense, but also trying to make it look realistic. I took a Phoenix and put it in a snowy landscape, but tried to make the ground look more burned for more realism. The Phoenix is also chasing some surfers, which obviously wouldn’t be there either.
