Hello! My name is JanaeĀ Harrison and Iām currently a Communication and Graphic Design major at New York City College of Technology.
My passion for art and media first started when I was in 6th grade. I took a video production class, where I had to make my own short film every week. Every week I looked forward to going to school so I can work on my short films. At the end of the year I won an award for āBest Filmā in my grade and got the opportunity to attend a summer class for free, where I had unlimited access to Macs and cameras. When I graduated from middle school, as a present my parents bought me my very first Nikon camera. All summer I took my camera everywhere with me and made sure to capture everything around me. I knew when I got into college, I wanted to Ā make sure my major allowed me to continue to work on my skills with media.
As a student in New York City College of Technology, I was able to learn how to use different kind of programs. I learned how to use illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign and I can’t wait to learn how to use many other programs. I also took Foundation Drawing where I was able to pull out of hidden talent. I have to thank Professor Libby Clarke for pushing me to my fullest potential. She helped me build confidence in myself, which greatly reflected on my work. In the future I hope to have my own company, where many other talented people like me can come together as one and make art happen but until then I plan on freelancing to get my name out there.
