PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

My philosophy is to provide healing, nurturing, love, and care for those who are sick. I seek to maintain my skills and competency through a continuous commitment to professional development and continued education, in order to provide the best evidence based care to my patients. My primary duties as a registered nurse are to provide competent, empathic, compassionate, and holistic care to my patient’s to the best of my ability. I promise to respect the dignity and individuality of all in my care and to support and honor their choices and preferences whenever possible.
In addition, as indicated by the theorist Jean Watson, I believe in developing a helping-trust relationship with clients. When trust is achieved, one’s ability to deliver care and assess client status becomes so much easier. Something as simple as listening to a client as they express themselves can have a positive impact on their well-being. Some people quest for someone to listen but the only way communication would arise is if a trusting nurse-client relationship is developed.
My main goals as a nurse is to educate and empower my patient’s through knowledge to help them make inform decisions and accept full responsibility for their healthcare needs. I vow to uphold the ethical codes of conduct of the American Nurses Association and I will do all in my power to elevate the standard of my profession and with loyalty I will devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.
