GOALS

Jeanie’s goal after graduating with her baccalaureate degree is to acquire a job as an assistant buyer that offers a yearly salary and benefits. This will be the first step in becoming a fashion buyer for a luxury designer brand. While she is working as an assistant and gaining industry knowledge she will be exposed to a plethora of networking opportunities that will help strengthen her social, oral, and communication skills. After a few years as an assistant buyer, she hopes to take time off to obtain her graduate degree. She plans to apply to Universities around the world in order to expand her horizons and be well-traveled which is a personal goal of hers. It also allows her to be deemed as a more desirable candidate for future employers. Jeanie plans to acquire Rosetta Stone software in order to study French and Italian continuously during her free time to become fluent and strengthen her communication skills.

OBJECTIVES

Jeanie hopes to further her career as a fashion buyer by improving on her social skills and developing a blog in order to stay current on fashion trends and as a way to create a visual representation of her fashion interests which will benefit her on future job interviews. She wants to join organizations like the National Retail Federation (NRF) and the American Purchasing Society (APS) as a way to broaden her networking opportunities and to further her career development. Upon joining the APS, she will apply and procure the examination in order to become a Certified Purchasing Professional. With the advancing appeal of e-commerce, staying current with the progressing world of technology would be extremely valuable in any career path. Jeanie is fluent in Spanish but she acknowledges that it is important for her to learn a third and possibly a fourth language in order to communicate with vendors. Since Jeanie’s main focus, for the time being, is luxury fashion she believes that learning French and Italian will benefit her long term.
