This course introduced me to the dynamic world of fashion by examining its historical foundations, key industry roles, and the evolving relationship between fashion, culture, and commerce. I gained a clearer understanding of the fashion cycle, trend forecasting, and how designers, manufacturers, and retailers contribute to the development and delivery of fashion products. Through class discussions and assignments, I explored how fashion reflects identity and social values, and how it responds to broader cultural and economic shifts. We covered important topics such as sustainability, globalization, and technological innovation in fashion, helping me understand how ethics and inclusivity play a vital role in shaping the industry’s future. I also learned about consumer behavior and how marketing strategies are developed to align with changing trends and retail landscapes. By the end of the course, I had built a strong foundation in both the creative and business aspects of fashion. This introduction helped me understand the wide range of career paths in the industry and gave me the language and tools to analyze fashion as both an art form and a global market. It also inspired me to pursue roles that combine innovation, ethics, and cultural awareness.
