My time in the NYCCT dental hygiene program significantly enhanced my skill set, providing me with a robust foundation in the field. I developed meticulous clinical skills in areas such as periodontal instrumentation, including scaling and root planing, utilizing both hand instruments and ultrasonic scalers. My expertise extends to comprehensive oral assessments, identifying and documenting various pathologies, and educating patients on optimal oral hygiene practices. Beyond the technical skills, the program cultivated my ability to communicate effectively with patients, building rapport and providing personalized care in a calm and reassuring manner. Furthermore, I gained proficiency in radiographic interpretation, charting, and record-keeping, all essential components of delivering comprehensive and high-quality dental hygiene care.
