My journey towards becoming a dental hygienist sparked in childhood, it was a gradual realization fueled by positive experiences and evolving interests. While I didn’t always know this was the path for me, I always loved visiting the dentist, especially because of my dental hygienist. She was always so kind and encouraging, turning what could be a daunting experience into a positive one. Her enthusiasm for oral hygiene sparked my own interest in caring for my teeth. As I matured, I began to truly understand the role of a dental hygienist and found myself drawn to the profession’s core values. I have a natural desire to help and educate others, and I enjoy engaging in conversation. The hands-on aspect of the job also greatly appealed to me. With a background in arts and a decade of dance training, I’ve always appreciated the value of working with other and the need for precision and artistry. My passion for dental hygiene truly solidified after I began working in dental offices in 2019. Immersed in the environment, I witnessed firsthand the collaborative spirit of the dental team – dentists, dental assistants, and hygienists – and fell in love with the combination of hands-on work, creativity, and patient interaction. It felt like everything I enjoyed and valued was embodied in this career, confirming that becoming a dental hygienist is the right path for me.
