My name is Iryna Yakymenko and I am a senior in the Dental Hygiene Program at New York City College of Technology. I’ve lived in New York City for 15 years and have been working in dentistry for 12 years. I was born and raised in Ukraine where I initially received an education in accounting. I’ve had the liberty of being able to explore both accounting and dentistry, but I ultimately fell in love with the dental field. Personally, I found being a registered dental hygienist to be more interesting, productive, and more beneficial.
Dental health is the science and art of preventing and controlling dental diseases. A dental hygienists concern for health promotion, educating patients, increasing public awareness and understanding are the major principles and goals of oral health and is my life long duty to ensure these principles are met.
